Discussion for article #227916

A couple of friends are there supporting the earth. More of this is needed.

We must build spaceships, put the billionaires who betray our planet on them, and send them on a one-way trip to anywhere else, ASAP. These people are to precious to be left here, at such risk.

Given the right support, solar and wind energy will help make the change we need. But as long as states like Wisconsin and Kansas can pass coal-monopoly, anti-alternative legislation, we will always be taking baby steps when we need mighty strides.

So, you pay for Al Gore’s food stamps?

The Huffington Post puts the crowd size at 300,000+ in New York alone, but unfortunately it does not change the fact that two thirds of our elected officials are on the take from the fossil fuel industry, and don’t give a crap.

I just noticed one faithful teabagging Christian post the image at the bottom of this article on her Facebook wall, with this caption: “Banners, flags, signs…Not a damn American flag in site.”

They certainly have their priorities in the right place.

Also seen in the NY march, walking and mixing freely with the crowd: Sting. And near the finish, Chris Noth. Good for both of these guys. Glad they came out for this.

“damn American flag” … posted by a self-professed Christian. Wow. Just, wow. Because, Jesus was clearly an American, for why else would He have written the Bible in English?

I was there today. it was great. the diversity of people was astounding. the costumes and placards were creative, the mood was festive but serious, as serious as the heart attack the planet is having from abuse. I stayed at 55th street and 6th avenue and took lots of great photos but I do not know how or if one can post them here.

If you have issues with Josh why not take them up with him directly? Or are you just trolling?

updated two hours later.

I see that this poster, cebola was it?, has been banished for being yet another sock of our tired old troll.

I’m with Sooner, if you have an issue with Josh, just email him at tpm@talkingpointsmemo.com.

I have had a great conversation with him this evening on a different subject.

The numbers in this article are much lower than being reported widely elsewhere. Disappointing coverage by AP and I’m sorry TPM reprinted it.

I take it there was no room on the list for Open Mic Nite at your local Laugh Shack.

JEP07’s comment was a reply to a sockpuppet of our tired old troll who earlier today was trolling that he was paying for all them sociofaceiests murchers who should be working.

When the trolls get booted our replies to them remain but are totally without context. Which is why i often delete my own reolies.

It was a march that reflected the human spirit. I saw nuns, I saw American flags, I saw socialists, I saw children, I saw old people (“gray is green”), I saw every color, size and shape of humanity.

And what brought all of these people together? The idea, simple as it may be, that it isn’t a good idea to shit where you live.

Pols ought to pay attention to that idea.

Now if we could just get all of these NYC marchers to VOTE in the 2014 mid-term elections! It’s clear here in Colorado who is on the side of taking action on climate change (Senator Udall) and who supports fossil fuels and the Koch brothers (Cory Gardner).

Great photos. They really caught the size and diversity of the march.

Seattle had a good march. Lots of people and spirit. I have a few suggestions for limiting CO2 emissions

  1. 55 MPH on all federal highways.
  2. stop eating meat twice a week. (I don’t ever eat red meat)
  3. mandatory solar hot water heaters in Sun states (Calif-Arizona-New Mexico-Texas-Nevada).
  4. Cut the military budget by 30% and invest the money in solar.
