Discussion: Phone Sex And Payoffs: What I Learned About Bill O'Reilly After Writing His Biography

He needs a teleprompter with pics to perform and never does stuff “live.” It just pisses him off when he has to do stuff “live.”

Essentially, it appears upper management at Fox News weighs the cost of the litigation against the advertising revenue for the sake of news stories that don’t have much news integrity in the first place.

Billo …to Billo…is the top 'o the heap. Bill O’Reilly thinks that he is the sole and only reason Fox News survives and does so very very well. He thinks there could not possibly be anyone as skilled as he in what he does. Nobody should mess with his Godlike person, he thinks. Personally I don’t spend much time fretting about Bill. As the old axiom said “Pride goeth before a fall.” Bill will eventually tuen out to be his own worst enemy (or petard).

Keith was his own worst enemy. He left jobs and when he did he burned the bridge behind him. Not a good tactic long term. Keith (I love the guy) has an ego bigger’n Dallas and the mouth to go with it. Very similar in that respect to Billo but without Billo’s arrogance and disrespect for any guest. I do so miss Keith’s show.

Vanished? I still can’t eat falafel without cracking up.

Depends on how it started. If she said “I’m going public with the tapes unless you pay up”, that is the act of blackmail. And that is a likely scenario. But he has to file a complaint to facilitate criminal prosecution. In that case, the tapes can become public. That would have destroyed Bill O. So he had his backers pay her off instead. If it was $10 mil, that was squat compared to revenue generated since then by his show, books, etc. And she gets about $200k tax free per year for 50 years unless she violates the confidentiality agreement. Set for life.

If she said she had tapes and he said “how can I get them from you”, that is called “negotiation”.

What is this LOO-fah you speak of?

And it’s also important to mention that Olbermann has insight and writing talent that O’Reilly can only dream about. Yes, Keith does have a big ego, and so does Bill-O, but only one of them has the goods. And that doesn’t come from ratings – Bill-O needs to watch A Face in the Crowd every day of his life until he finally comes to realize that hoodwinking the public, a la Lonesome Rhodes, does not mean you have talent.

I did say I missed Keith and his show. Yes Keith has a big ego but he backed it up with talent, writing and skill and insight. Billo has that big ego followed by bluster, arrogance and rudely talking over his guests which I don’t think Keith ever did. I am sure Keith hates sticking to sports in his present gig.

Yawn…

All obscenely successful people follow this philosophy and don’t kid yourself.

Jesus?

I wasn’t disagreeing with you, darrtown, merely adding to your point.

I know, deckbose. No harm, no foul.

“…Murdoch world…”

The goal of the capitalism to which Murdoch subscribes is for the whole world to be dependent upon his order.

Sounds like Kitman thought if he characterized what the victim did as “blackmail”, than O’Reilly would be more likely to accept Kitman’s insertion of this event in the book w/o holding it against Kitman.

If that’s the case, then Kitman just jumped into the sewer to swim with O’Reilly. That characterization smeared the woman who already had been victimized.

It was blackmail only in Biily’s mind, a maze of wonderment in itself.

Gosh, O’Reilly sounds so aloof, uhh, doesn’t he? I’ve been saving that one up, hehehe.
