Discussion: Peter Thiel Thinks The Media Takes Trump 'Too Literally' (VIDEO)

Thiel is a creature of Silicon Valley, which is full of the same gestalt: “Don’t take our grand & glorious tech-promises literally after they flame out. Vaporware is real, until reality intervenes! Just give us money.”

Hey Thiel, maybe you took Gawker too “literally”? No?

This is pretty idiotic for a billionaire Stanford graduate. When you’re President, a poorly chosen phrase or misplaced word can move mountains. So you don’t get to spout off like you’re at your inlaws for Thanksgiving dinner.

Simply said, the Presidency requires discipline. And Trump doesn’t have it.

How can you take seriously a man who can’t be taken literally?

There’s nothing left except your own projection, Thiel.

Thiel was against women voting at one time.

They’ll come for you too, Peter.

You may think they won’t but trust me, you’re on the list too – you “deviant”.

Sorry Pete, but the rest of the fu*king world will be taking whatever our President says “literally” as well. Words matter.

You bet, Pete. Why Trump’s literary skill at metaphor and simile would make the Bard of Avon, himself envious. When Trump says that Hillary Clinton will let 650 million immigrants into the country, and building walls, he’s really saying":

You do look, my son, in a moved sort,
As if you were dismay’d: be cheerful, sir.
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp’d towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Ye all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Just because he said these things doesn’t mean you should believe he meant them.

If’s bleeping DaDaism.

These people are insane - yes, people are going to take a Presidential candidate at his or her word. Commanders in Chief don’t get to play “just kidding” with their statements.

Stick to the business world, you morons!

If you’re so rich, why ain’t you smart?

Shorter Thiel: You are taking me “Too Literally”.

Trump has been asked, dozens of times now, if he literally means build a literal wall and he has said yes emphatically each time. How are we supposed to know not to take him literally when he explicitly confirms over and over and over again that he wants to build a literal wall?

That’s what some of his supporters said about Reagan. And GWB. And, yes, Hitler.

For someone supposedly so intelligent Thiel doesn’t half talk a lot of shit :unamused:

Nobody thinks his comments about women were acceptable.

Apparently you do, since you are on record lamenting that women have the right to vote.

If only Trump would utter the word “homo” so we could see this jackass dance around that one.

It’s only Fascism…why be afraid?

Hey Peter try this on for size:

“It may be shocking to some people in this country to realize that, without meaning to do so, they hold views in common with Hitler when they preach discrimination against other religious, racial or economic groups.”
