Discussion for article #226989
Tom Corbett is trailing his Democratic opponent, Tom Wolf, by 25 points. This is nothing more than a campaign stunt! Too little, too late, governor.
I suppose this is some kind of step forward for PA.
I was born in PA, lived there in severe poverty until I was 12.
I once cut my finger and needed 2 stitches. My parents had to come up with $5. That’s $50 in 2014 dollars. No such thing then as health insurance.
I’ve said that denying Medicaid to our poorest citizens is a form of genocide.
Don’t know who saw the 60 Minutes segment on the “Health Wagon” in VA where the GOP-dominated state legislature refused to accept Medicaid.
If you haven’t seen it, do so.
If you can watch it without tears you have no soul.
It’s proof that angels exist.
It’s quite interesting that some of the more vulnerable Republican governors have sought to expand Medicaid as a means to bolster their reelection chances. At the same time, they also claim “the people” don’t want Obamacare, that it’s being shoved down their throats. So, which is it: are their constituents against Obamacare or are they so in favor that embattled governors think expanding it will give them an edge?
Because we all know that having a major illness and many people end up on Medicaid with severe diabetes or renal failure or heart failure earn so much money they should be allowed to not pay for every minute of help.
Someday,oh someday one of these independently wealthy p****s is going to find himself really really sick and I hope the bills drain his entire bank account. But of course it won’t because they will health care provided by the government or some other job.
It will 46 states the day after they won’t have the accept money from the black guy in the White House. Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina have politician ignorant enough to hold out even then.
Is he doing this to lock in the worst possible deal for poor people in his state? Medicare advantage is a giveaway to the insurance companies.
I grew up in PA too and we were pretty damned poor. My dad worked in the coal mines. A doctor visit was $3 and there was definitely no such thing as insurance. I had to be hospitalized once and it was $35.00 a day for the hospital and I don’t know what the doctor charged or what they paid for the procedure. I was in the hospital for a week. I don’t know how they came up with the money as there was barely enough money to last between paychecks.
I agree with everything you said and more. I don;t understand the thinking of conservatives at all.
You know the answer
I am going to have a beer after reading this article. And a fresh one each day for every recalcitrant GOP a$$hole who breaks rank before November.
It’s funny how twenty five silly points can change a man into a wild-eyed liberal, ain’t it?
Premiums for people who can’t afford insurance. Those bastards can’t just do the kind, the humane, hell, the Christian thing and help poor people - they have to poke them with a sharp stick and dig ina little first. Evil is the only word for them. Poor people may not always be poor, but Corbett will always be a dick.
and, a dick who will be out of office soon.
They wanted it all the time but they just didn’t want to give the president credit for getting passed. You do know how this look for them, something that they couldn’t get pass and in come a black man and get it pass and it work for all the people. Their goal was to defeat him in the beginning and they failed and he just keep on winning and they have no clue on how it is happen and they won’t change their ways so they just keep beating themselves up and making dumb stupid mistakes that might cause them to lose their party.
