Discussion: Paul Ryan Unlikely To Deliver Budget Thanks To Revolt From Tea Partiers

So this is a result of House Republicans being bicep-curious?

It pokes a pretty huge hole in the theory that Ryan is the white knight to save the GOP convention, doesn’t it?

No budget because they won’t compromise with the Dems.
No SCOTUS hearing because it would be a win for Obama.
And still they have no clue what led to the rise of Donald Trump.

It’s like they’re shooting holes in the bottom of their sinking ship because they believe it’ll let the water out.

Yea, but now it is crunch time.

this is exactly why ryan did not want to be speaker. the tea thugs can not be reasoned with. vote their sorry asses out!

The Great American Moderate Savior of the clueless media can’t even work out a fucking budget.
I can’t wait for all the Dems in the House to yell ā€œfuck you!ā€ at him when he comes crawling for their help - and he will, just like Boehner. And the concessions he will have to give the Dems will destroy any Presidential hopes he still has in the back of his mind after that phony press conference yesterday.
He can pass a budget that the Senate will pass without the Teabaggers, but he sure as hell can’t pass one without the Dems.

Yep, and while the brand new House Speaker can’t get a budget past his own majority, the Republicans are careening headlong into a brokered convention between a blustering vulgarian and an unlikeable theocrat, their Senate majority is in danger, and a divided Supreme Court stands as testimony of the death of movement conservatism’s judicial activism.

Waiter, another barrel of popcorn for my friends!

Shocking that someone who had to be cajoled into a leadership position is now struggling to display leadership. How are all those ā€œconcessionsā€ you demanded from the Freedom Caucus before you’d take the job working out for you now, Mr. Speaker?

I don’t think Ryan had any illusions about being an effective Speaker. I think he saw the appointment as an opportunity to gain a platform for his self-serving agenda of personal aggrandizement.

If this weren’t such a big deal and have potential to negatively affect most everyone, I’d say let the man stew in it. Tea Party legislators and their constituent counterparts are so short-sighted. Though I don’t much care for Ryan’s politics, I do believe he has the potential to be a moderately effective Speaker, except he’s anchored down by the intransigence – no matter what he proposes. Ryan should enjoy the job as much as possible because something tells me he’s not going to be in that position for too long.

Another GOP Speaker who can’t get shit done. Great work, Ryan.

ā€œā€¦totally inappropriate to enact a budget during an election year and thereby politicize the whole process…we need to let the people weigh in on the next budgetā€¦ā€

Well to be fair, they were elected on the I Hate Government ticket and they are just doing their job - destroying the government.

If Ryan had any gonads he’d put out a budget that is realistic and, OMG, bi-partisan and stand by it, rather than waver in hopes that the worst of his Party will be nice to him.

He is NOT in the position to make everyone happy and he either leads or fails. At this point he is choosing failure which is weak, weak, tea.
If he’s going to be ineffective, he may as well be ineffective at attempting to do the right thing rather than being a capitulating putz.

He is the Speaker, for both Parties in fact, and yet he cedes all power and influence to the very group that gave him the power and influence in the first place.
Does, Squish, sound about right?

First, very unlikely in light of gerrymanderng. Second, they need to make it someone else…maybe Ellison to drive the GOPers/Teatrolls fucking crazy(er)…

He is starting to look more like Boehner - he looks like he is on the verge of sobbing in that picture.

Trump: They will all fall in line when I am president. I will cut the budget by reducing military spending. I will balance the budget and give tax cuts.
Trump Followers: What an original idea.
