When I lived in the San Joaquin valley, one of my colleagues thought that the part of CA east of the inner coast ranges should have been the State of “West Oklahoma”.
there are not a lot of job openings for scrubbing clean pots.
“I think Chairman Gowdy’s initial assessment is accurate,” Ryan said during a press conference Wednesday. “I have seen no evidence to the contrary of the initial assessment that Chairman Gowdy has made.”
This is hardly a strong push-back statement. Sure, he says “Gowdy seems to be right,” but then goes on to “need more documents and information” and complaining about “not getting things in a timely manner” and even supporting Nunes comments about getting documents and info.
And, of course he doesn’t have the balls to say “Trump” or “Spygate” or “lie.”
My guess is this has something to do with the message Flood delivered & Kelly supported before the actual briefing commenced.
Recall Flood was on the team which worked on behalf of Bill Clinton in defending against impeachment back in the 1990s. He’s a pro’s pro, been around two decades plus, no wacky crazoid, no corrupt burn-out, his strength is clear-headed objective analysis, he’s the opposite of bluster, & his approach is predominantly strategic.
IMO what Flood WOULDN’T want is for any GOPer freshly emergeD from the briefing to express a politicized position that, like X number of Crazy Eyes Nunes’ contrivances have, from the getgo are so OTT their instant Late Night laffs, then they crumble like a cheap concrete, and too often they even bite owners’ butts.
As the corollary, assuming there are GOPers in the briefing capable of rationally getting it - Gowdy, notwithstanding his JarJar Binks looks & precious hair, definitely is, despite having been the House showrunner for Beennnggghhhaaazzziii: he’s ex-AUSa, state district DA & for a number of years SC state court system’s chief LE liaison official - ideally make sa judgment & says it EARLY and OUT LOUD and CONSISTENTLY, to scare Nunes from working up Hannity et al at Fox into prodding fatboy into a lathered frenzy that’s bound to go flat like cheap cola or a sad lonely boy’s b’day balloon.
Have you ever seen a more spineless, useless, pathetic excuse for a man than Paul Ryan???
Didn’t he just win a primary?
Mr. Ryan. It is way too late to grow a pair on the way out the door.
Why don’t you remove Nunes from chairing his committee, and maybe remind Trump that you still could have his in a vise.
Sí, se puede
Not since I saw pictures of Mitch McConnel and Devin Nunes.
Retiring GOP higher-up. Not beholden to the lunatic base.
I think the donor class is about to find out that they don’t mean shit to the GOP base.
That’s a general condition though. I don’t see what particular benefit he and Gowdy see in bucking the Trump gang on this particular thing.
They’ve got nothing to lose at this point. They don’t need GOP money for reelection and aren’t terrified of Trump calling them mean names on Twitter. My wife, ever the optimist, thinks it is because they know Mueller has the goods. I figured that’d be leaking if it were the case.
Paul Ryan: Like Seaweed Swaying in Swirling Waters…
It’s not leaking because all the leaking comes from the tRump side and they won’t know about indictments until they’re served.
Mueller famously doesn’t leak. He has the goods—every indictment has made it clear they know more than they’re saying. The obstruction and collusion have been either obvious or at least pretty clear for many months. And I get that when you plan to retire you don’t have the same constraints. My point is that I’d like to know why they’re pushing back on this particular thing now.
Isn’t it telling that each and every time a witness, subject, or congress-critter goes and talks to the investigators, they come out either stunned silent at the width, breadth and scope of evidence Mueller has, or at the very least, humbled and set straight.
It must be SO much worse for Trump than we even know.
Gowdy did.
Don’t get too excited, folks. That’s a pimple on Lyan’s ass not the beginnings of a spine.
