Santelli shares this category with Judith “I was fucking right” Miller. Despite the inaccuracy of her reporting on WMDs in Iraq, she still had the temerity to proclaim, “I was proved fucking right.” Completly shameless. But for in interesting interpretation of how her claim might be correct, see A Tiny Revolution: Judith Miller is Fucking Right
Or her CDs, yup. But rentiers gotta get their rents; the Fed needs to keep that their top priority, and fk the unemployed.
yes, santelli was cast as the frontman:
“What we discovered is that Santelli’s “rant” was not at all spontaneous as his alleged fans claim, but rather it was a carefully-planned trigger for the anti-Obama campaign. In PR terms, his February 19th call for a “Chicago Tea Party” was the launch event of a carefully organized and sophisticated PR campaign, one in which Santelli served as a frontman, using the CNBC airwaves for publicity, for the some of the craziest and sleaziest rightwing oligarch clans this country has ever produced. Namely, the Koch family,”
There is a saying in Trading: “Do you want to be right or make money?”. I agree that the traders and Santelli are simpatico, but the rubes who watch Santelli are the ones the applauding traders are trading against.
And, once again, Krugman is correct when the majority of his kind (economists) disagree with him. On just about everything. And 9 times out of 10, Krugman is correct and they aren’t. Furthermore, if he makes a mistake (very rare), he owns right up to it, unlike the rightwing economists who simply hope that people will forget they shot off their mouths and were dead wrong.
The only thing he might have added is that Santelli is a sh*t-for-brains jackass. But, unlike me, Krugman is far too classy for that. He relies on accurate data for his points…well, come to think of it, accurate data says that he could have said that and be directly on target.
And like all the other “inflationistas,” he has been consistently wrong about inflation being caused by loose monetary policy, too. Krugman has repeatedly demonstrated that in a banking depression, loose monetary policy is about the only tool that the government has unless a massive spending program does the stimulating. Oh, yeah, right! That’s what Krugman won his Nobel Prize for, but using Japan as the model way back in the 1990’s.
Let me guess. Santelli has since won HIS Nobel Prize for proving Krugman wrong, right?
Santelli pulled the usual conservative trick.
If you’re wrong (and especially if you know you’re wrong), just yell louder.
How awesome CNBC would be if they were trying to really help you make money.
I suspect the traders who like him don’t follow his advice. They don’t like losing money.
Perfect!
Shorter version, Assholes of a Feather.
Hillary got far and she flim-flams with the best. And yes, I’d vote for her in the general.
The big money is made by the math whizzes who cobble together the imperceptible derivatives and then can not explain them. You will never see them on the floor. If this were comparable to Health Care, floor traders are the CNAs of finance, those who clean the bedpans.
Santelli is supposed to be the CNBC expert on bonds and yet he does not have a clue as to what impact FED policy has on the price of bonds. Therefore, those who watch CNBC, listen to his daily rants, and act on them are losing their ass in the bond market. CNBC is cracy to continue to employ him as he provides no value added. And I am sure he is paid well despite being totally incompetent. But my guess is that CNBC management is heavily biased towards the corporate, banking, and tea party perspective as they employ mostly cheer leaders for the so called free market and those who hate our government.
On a purely financial level, I really don’t understand these guys’ affinities. The S&P’s value fell by 40% during the Bush years. It’s up close to 150% since Obama’s been president (from approximately 800 to 1985). But they’re hardcore Republicans nonetheless. Real money guys.
He came over here a year or two ago - they put a right wing politician and a business leader up against him. I just wish the BBC had given more time for him to finish them off (he would have had a field day with the idea that Estonia was a stick with which to beat his argument with, but there it ended).
Simple: tax cuts for the rich, and high interest rates for the creditors and bondholders.
In other words, Dr. Krugman, all those traders and Rick Santelli could be described as psychopaths. Inability to feel empathy, combined with a narcissistic mindset.
Yes, that’s right as far as general Republican preferences go. But these guys are stock traders!
That rant is the first appearance of the real Tea Party nugget phrase, “I don’t want to pay for…” your birth control, your food stamps, your affirmative action, your college. You shouldn’t go to college. You don’t have the money now that we’ve restored capitalism: so starve you worthless Irish!
