I read somewhere today that some religious freaks want to keep the rape exception because they’re afraid of having multiracial kids.
LOL. GOP getting a little scared that Dems like Doug Jones are going to lean into this fight. Red State and Purple State Dems are going to win a lot of races next year.
HAHAHAHA Holy shit, when you’ve gone so far with your Christofacism that you’ve lost Pat “God punishes the gay with hurricanes” Robertson, I’d say you’ve lost the battle. Maybe not the war just yet, but the battle is lost.
A lot of shivering going on in Hades right now?
Pat Robertson parts ways with Alabama’s GOP
Anyone who makes an exception for rape or incest does not believe abortion is murder. Such a person’s only interest is in punishing women for taking control of their lives.
This is a man who has spent his life charming and manipulating the poorly educated and desperately afraid. He knows how to sell fear and get the people to shout hallelujah while they sign over their possessions and jump off the cliff. When he says you’re taking it too far to the GOP maybe this is the first real sign the base is going to revolt…
When you’ve lost Pat Robertson…
Perhaps, but I don’t see it as that far along. This is just Pat’s way of saying, “Dial it back to 10, fellas.”
That’s a good point because the way the law is set up doesn’t even require red and purple state Dems to lean in too far. Jones, for instance, can say he’s against “abortion as birth control,” but that it should certainly be available to women who “really need one” and for victims of rape and incest. Obviously, I think abortion should be available to a woman under any damn circumstance she finds herself in. That said, writing the law so restrictive has given red state Dems a really easy out that allows them to draw a great contrast between themselves and Republican while still appearing conservative to moderate on the issue.
Let’s keep it real for a moment. This bill passed the AL legislature because it had encouragement from pro life groups like Robertsons. So this is all about moving the Overton Window further to the right to make eliminating abortion rights a tantalizing prospect for voters and to tee something up for the courts. That said, the far right is probably surprised at the blow back today. This has gone viral and they’re now in the same zone the GOP was when they tried to repeal O-Care and imposed their tax scam. People didn’t forget when they voted in 2018. They won’t forget this in 2020 either.
Roberts knows damned well that no birth control of last resort means less nookie.
If you are too extreme for Pat Robertson you are just flat too extreme.
I think he is afraid a male doctor might be sentenced to 99 years for providing an abortion. That is a step too far for Pat.
Don’t send out the search parties.
BTW, and totally OT but . . .
. . . Pat Robertson is giving the Mango Mussolini a stiff challenge for “Worst Comb Over Of The Year.”
It’s an extreme law and they want to challenge Roe v. Wade, but my humble view is that this is not the case we want to bring to the Supreme Court because I think this one’ll lose.
Sounds like he’s perfectly fine with it on its merits, but that it’s a bad political move at this time. He’s not confident the SC is extreme enough to let it fly and could set the movement back.
Orrrr, he’s revealing the grift. The antiabortion movement has been gold for hucksters like him and the GOP, and if that goes away then what?
Pat (Jesus and I double-dated) Robertson is only lamenting the fact that he thinks this is a TACTICAL ERROR.
He has no issues with the actual results of the LAW; Punishing the Sluts with Pregnancies.
He just wants a challenge to Roe that has a better chance of SUCCEEDING.
Don’t read too much into this…
Exactly. He’s not going soft, folks.
