This is about stopping the Mueller probe. And maybe also about persecuting people on Spanky’s Enemies List.
While the political bias notes are important, what jumps out most to me is that – while McGahn was steeped in Washington politics and policy – Cipollone is a litigator. He’s the guy you hire to bring down your opponents, to tie the hands of government, and to thwart the machinery of justice.
He’s the legal equivalent of a state executioner.
