Discussion: Pastor Blasts Trump ‘Sh*thole’ Remarks During Sermon Attended By Pence

Sometimes I think Pence actually surpasses Trump when it comes to moral hypocrisy. Good on the pastor for speaking up. I’m sure Mike thinks his direct pipeline to god is far better.

Protected by that tinfoil hat that passes for his hair, Dense will prove magically impervious to the pastor’s eloquent remarks. Indeed, he will deny that they were ever said.

How’s that patronizing MLK Day photo op workin’ for ya, Mikey?

Always love it when the hardcore racist wingers head down to the AME church once a year…

See what happens when you leave your lily-white bubble, Mikey? You get confronted with the rest of the world.

(Although dollars to donuts Mikey sees this as a confirmation that Donnie’s policy toward shithole – or shithouse, if you prefer – countries is correct. All those dark brown people are a threat…)

If Pence was a Christian and a decent human being the pastor’s remarks might have had some effect. But, of course, he’s not and they didn’t.

Pence appeared agitated and got red in the face?

How could anyone tell the difference…

Tougher than the reception he got at Hamilton the night after the election and it will get worst for Trump-Pence.

Trump the Coward doesn’t appear in public, He puts Pence out there to absorb the flak. Too bad for Mike that it is too late to abandon ship.

I’ve never been to Haiti. But I have been to Gary. I understand why Pence might be a little touchy about shitholes.

A local news outlet, WUSA-TV, reported that Pence appeared agitated and got red in the face…

Isn't every damned Republican in the nation perpetually agitated and red in the face?

Fake sermonizing.

While it is overused, the characterization of “speaking truth to power” comes to mind. Good for the pastor.

I’d agree since Trump doesn’t pretend to have morals.

It was originally about prophetic religious resistance to secular authority, not a cable network sales slogan. The American Friends Service Committee, and Quakers generally, started using it in the late 1940’s.

If Pence was a Christian or a decent human being he would have never agreed to be a toady for the living embodiment of the 7 deadly sins.

So did Pence leave early like the football game? Donald was probably trying to tell him too like the SNL skit, but Pence didn’t get cell service there. Not his part of town if you know what I mean.

A local news outlet, WUSA-TV, reported that Pence appeared agitated and got red in the face during the sermon, but his office denied those reports to The Associated Press Monday.

Hahaha. This should be the desired outcome of any event for which pence is in the audience.

I don’t read his described reaction as shame that he’s part of a shithole administration, either. No, that’s the reaction of a little boy being scolded for doing something naughty and showing anger that he got caught rather than remorse that he did wrong.

Not that we didn’t already know that’s how he rolls.

Frankly I am encouraged by Pence’s reaction. Clearly when somebody says have you no shame (or at least embarrassment) his flacks can point to his reaction and say “why yes, yes he does have shame. He clearly made a mistake going to a black church on MLK day and was embarrassed.” That is a much better response than President “I am the least racist person” Trump playing golf and enjoying another day off.

Now is there sufficient Republican bill in Congress to pass a DACA/Immigration bill without Trump?

You are right about this. Trump has never pretended to be a anything but the amoral man that he is. Pence on the other hand, knows the difference but chooses to ignore when convenient. But he is just as dumb as trump.
