Looking at the statistics Parma had about twice the number of officers needed for a town its size. Their crime rate has gone up the last few years as they have added cops. I am unsure how they paid for all of the officers. The locals have complained that they never saw the added cops anyway.

One suspects that a town of 750 in a county with a sheriff’s department might just be able to make do without any police force of its own at all. Might even save enough to make up for the lost ticket and fine revenue.

As the sun rises on a new day in Parma, the vampires scuttle to their coffins. Their fear of sunshine, no doubt is well founded.
Parma residents most likely will find they can get by nicely with a lot less cops and cronies. The water treatment plant will finally get a certified operator. The tax revenues, such as they are will be returned to providing services to the town. nothing spectacular will happen as the village gradually recovers from the old regime.

Lots of towns that size rent the local sheriff’s department. That is probably the way to get better patrol coverage at a price the town can afford.

That is actually what one would expect…more police officers mean more citations. After all, that is what they are usually hired for in small towns…to increase revenue.

First cousin once removed is the correct term but a person can be forgiven for phrasing it like this. It is certainly more descriptive, which is to say, it makes it evident that the person is most likely quite a bit younger than the mayor.
He’s right.
His “JOB” in the past was to harass and shake down every minority in town and send a cut to the chief of police and his other “buddies”.
Now, he won’t be able to do that.

So the scared white cops voluntarily quit, which means that they don’t get unemployment, and can now be replaced (if at all) with officers who aren’t afraid of those whom they serve. Sounds like a win-win to me. And as an added bonus, they aren’t around to interfere with the investigation into the computers they at least attempted to wipe.
