Discussion: Parents Of Sandy Hook Victims Sue Alex Jones For Defamation

Do not count on the courts being the saving grace of our democracy going forward… Grassley blocked more than the Supreme Court nomination during Obama’s presidency and now they are going lightning speed to fill the lower courts with right wing wackos with little understanding of the law and no desire to learn

A “pound of flesh.”

Easy plucky. The GOP and their enablers in the universe of alternative facts have protectible rights in the term “fake news” and will aggressively pursue claims of trademark infringement. Find a safe and more descriptive term like “fucking lies.”

O I’m so glad they are.

I don’t have unlimited confidence in the courts. It is just the one branch that is resisting the kakistocracy, so hopefully it can get us through this period of Republican control and then renew itself. As Walt Whitman said, “the Grassley is itself a child, the produced babe of the vegetation.”

Just the sort of comments I would expect from Soros-funded, inter-dimensional, shape-shifting baby-eaters.

Clearly, the globalist chemtrails have enslaved your gay-frog-loving, gun-grabbing, antifa brains.

Wake up and smell the covfefe, sheeple!

I just can’t imagine how terrible it must be for these good folks to suffer the worst loss imaginable and then to be abused by deplorable alt right conspiracy nuts. So hope they win big.

WRTI did a piece about this activist singer and I figured that although she seemed very nice, her kind of New Agey activism had to involve some shaky beliefs. And sure enough, in this one song she mentioned chemtrails. It’s amazing, the stuff otherwise sensible people believe.

Money is all people like Alex Jones understand. That’s really the only motivation for what they do. He sure doesn’t deserve to be doing what he’s doing by fooling people into thinking he really means this crap.

This reminds me of the inspired insight of Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Somewhere along the line, he realized that the way to fight the Klan and other hate groups was to bankrupt them with civil suits. Brilliant, and he’s shown that it works like a charm.

Good point. Anyone who has said so many cruel and heartless things about dead children and their grieving loved ones has almost zero chance of being anything but a monster in his personal life.

We learned that at his custody hearing

If you read some of the comments of Chemtrail believers it really seems more like schizophrenia and not “otherwise sensible people”.
Just consider what has to be in place operationally for the whole worldwide Chemtrail business to be real - it’s staggering.

Yes we did. He is as fucked up as a chameleon on a kilt.

If Alex Jones loses the lawsuit and he’s wiped out financially, he can always continue selling his idiot fans even more of his cockamamie and questionable health supplements.

I sincerely hope they refuse to settle no matter the offer. I’d like to see this end in a trial in which he’s got to look those grieving families in the face everyday, where pictures of their children and their lives are shown, and even the most hellbent Jones supporters have to admit they’ve been had. And then I want the jury to award these families some ridiculously over the top amount that even the most batshit, right wing judge will fear overturning.

If one man, Hulk Hogan can take down Gawker, why shouldn’t the parents and relatives of 20 murdered 5 year olds do the same to Jones.
I say just crush this nut and nail him to the barn door for the other nuts to see.

That’ll never happen.

I’m concerned that filing suit in Texas might make it hard to recover much in the way of noneconomic losses or punitive damages, but I don’t have facts at hand to support or erase my concern.

I don’t think I’ve heard anything about that…
