sure they will. WMATA will put them on buses that are headed to out of the way or black neighborhoods. As for the train stations, those ads will likely head to MD and VA (excluding Bethesda, Crystal City and the Pentagon stops).
WMATA has been down this path before and they lost that battle in '12. So unless they can give cause to why, the ads will likely run its regular time period and then get taken down.
I donât subscribe to any particular religion, but I respect those who do. There is nothing to gain by deliberately insulting and mocking anotherâs faith. Itâs painfully transparent that Geller is pulling out all the stops to provoke angry reactions, hopefully violence. Her actions are not a defense of free speech, they are just despicable.
Thereâs a lot of case law on the subject and itâs not in favor of publicly owned transit systems that offer advertising space on their buses and in their stations denying people based on the content of their messaging.
Indeed. One might argue thatâs the whole point. Freedom of speech doesnât protect popular speech. Popular speech needs no protection. Itâs the offensive speech that needs it, and therefore gets it. I find her advertising provocations and her entire message to be abhorrent and an atrocious use of free speech, but sheâs got the right to do it.
