If you look at the success of the gay rights movement in this country over the past couple of decades, you can’t help but be struck by the cleverness of the battles they chose: marriage, serving in the military, hospital visitation rights, opposition to teen bullying and suicide, filing federal taxes jointly - Mom and Apple Pie, every single one of them. Well played, LBGT.

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.
I suppose it could be an assertion that the gay rights movement has not been notably successful, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt that they’re not complete fools.
