Discussion for article #238701
Boooooooooo! Hissssssss!
Why would northern Ohio Democrats want to? But, then again considering it’s Fitzgerald he might actually mean Terrible Radicals Undermining Middle Class People and hasn’t yet made the Donald connection…
Its starting. Check out this open letter on Politico by Rick Wilson
A full blown internal war which costs the GOP money, resources and exposes all the internal squabblings guaranteeing chaos? I am sooo down with this.
They could just set it on fire, would be as effective. Or just give it to me.
Since outside PACs aren’t allowed to use candidates’ names in their
titles, “TRUMP” actually stands for Terrible Radicals Undermining Middle
Class People, The Hill noted.
Are they aware that this just keeps Rump’s name in the media even longer than the 15 mins. he should have used up by now? Are they aware that Rump is aware of this and that the entity living on his head is laughing away?
Fight, fight, fight! Fire up the popcorn maker!
The GOP, particularly the establishment, realizes now that Trump is not going to fade away quickly. He not only has sucked all the air out of the room, right now, he controls their entire messaging. That is about as close to their worst nightmare as they could have imagined.
So they cannot just sit quietly by and wait for his time to run out anymore. They have to spend actual money and resources to take him out. My guess is, that Trump’s little threat this morning about going 3rd party is because he has gotten that message already.
So they take down now has to be of truly epic proportions. Not merely to drive him out of the race, they have to so humiliate the man that nobody would want to support him…even their unrepentant base. The next few months are going to get extremely ugly.
Time to invest in popcorn futures!
Just goes to show that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Understood. However, my question is this: if the GOP base is as “unrepentant” as you say they are and I’m not disagreeing with you on that, does that mean that they turn away from Rump and support another candidate OR do they just sit 2016 out believing that, once again, the establishment has screwed them over? I know that the GOP establishment wants the former to happen but can they prevent the latter from happening?
EDIT TO ADD: Assuming that the epic humiliation actually works.
I’m guessing Trump has more money than they can possibly raise.
It depends of course, upon how effective the humiliation is, and under what circumstances Trump bows out. Ideally, from a GOP perspective, its done in a way that those voters merely transfer themselves to another candidate ( which is what Cruz is betting on, and why he is very reluctant to speak badly about Trump, even though Trump is now eating directly from the voters that were supposed to be Cruz supporters. He wants them back, and doesn’t want to risk any blowback…so he is just biding his time), or possibly pout and sit out the primaries, but realize the call to gather round and stop evil Hillary in time for the general.
What’s ironic is that the people he is addressing will never read his message.
Hey Donald a lot of folks aren’t “FEELING” you I see.
I think Trump understands humiliation like the rest of the GOP understands irony and hypocrisy…
The responses to that letter seem to be definitely leaning towards “FU, you establishment fraud!”
But he is correct that campaigns always have oppo research people around precisely to take down other campaigns. And Trump is an extremely target rich environment for those folks. And while a coordinated sustained series of such attacks will only harden the “true believers”, it will also whittle down the majority of his support over time.
I mean just the easy reaches…he supports abortions, gun control…financially both the Clintons and Obama are pretty big things for most die hard conservatives to ignore. Toss in his comments about God this weekend, where he essentially said he doesn’t ask for God’s forgiveness because he doesn’t need it. That may be nothing to me and you, but that’s a really big red flag to evangelicals. They hear that and hear “He doesn’t think God matters!!”
Once the oppo people REALLY start digging, he will have to go into defense mode…and crouching is not how you win elections.
Terrible Republicans Undermining Middle Class People
I corrected the typo.
I believe that he’ll go third party. I think Trump believes he is what America needs. Tat is to say, I don’t think he’s fucking around. So if the GOP kicks him and insults him while they do it, well, there is nothing left him to do than start a third party. Does anybody think Donald Trump will go quietly away and let a loser clown like Scott Walker or Marco Rubio claim the nomination that, in Trump’s opinion, belongs to him?
I seriously think Trump will not think to crouch and will meet any threat head on with a lot of bluster and theatrics. And I think it will be a winning strategy for a while. Look, calling a Vietnam POW a loser and not tank in the polls is pretty much a wave that has quite a bit of life still in it.
