Which nutter crowd won’t be satisfied, the nutter crowd that wants to use this event to demonize all Muslims, or the nutter crowd that wants to use this event to confiscate all guns?
I would happily sacrifice my ability to comment on the minutiae of everyday life if only someone could turn back time and take this mouthpiece away from every dumbass neanderthal who thinks his opinion of Obama has any bearing whatsoever on the state of the world.
His use of the word “crusade,” said Soheib Bensheikh, Grand Mufti of the mosque in Marseille, France, “was most unfortunate”, “It recalled the barbarous and unjust military operations against the Muslim world,” by Christian knights, who launched repeated attempts to capture Jerusalem over the course of several hundred years.
When Bush 2 had benefit of doubt with him…
Iraq?
I’ll agree with that assessment.
Afghanistan?
let’s discuss
Every so often, I sometimes look to the starry sky and yell out like an a-- “WHY AL? WHY DON’T YOU LIKE BEER?”
i don’t really, but again that was W’s marketing campaign from when he became governor until he ‘reinvented’ himself as Picasso.
That shows the level of how consumers got their news then and how we receive it now.
Behold the reliable Gallup chart (and one of the few times they might have gotten facts right.)
Now direct your attention to '99 to '04. Depending on who was asked, most folks would have had high (ok faint) praise for the media. '04 seems to be the start of a trend…
“Freedom is more powerful than fear,” but freedom doesn’t have many protectors in Cable News. The “be afraid, be very afraid” crowd sits atop of all of the media, and the fear message is pushed 24/7/365 by all kinds of people with a vested interest in making people afraid, from the terrorists, through the entertainment/news bosses at all of the networks and news papers, on to every Republican candidate.
Whaaaaaaaat? No ground war…no tactical nuclear weapons… no red-meat Trumpisms’ (We should destroy them and their families.)blah, blah, blah…!!! The Right Wing WooWoos will be howling their displeasure. The President’s reasoned approach will be reinterpreted by each and every one of the GOP’s presidential wannabe’ howler monkey brigade, and will be drowned out by the din of their shouts that, "He’s weak! … He’s not doing enough!.. We would do better!.. And the MSM and the varied other media outlets will cover each and every useless, unfounded, and uninformed word of their criticisms___to the detriment of this country’s actual foreign policy. In other words, it’s just SSDD.
But is freedom more powerful than fear when the radicalized Christianic extremists consider freedom to be the freedom to live as they see fit for you to live, under penalty of death?
Well, there’s my morning chuckle. Even the French admit the Brits are funny.
Freedom’s more powerful but fear has a better PR guy…
The Karla Faye Tucker incident was as repugnant as anything he’s ever done (“please don’t kill me”). But it seemed to play in Texas where capital punishment is pursued gleefully.
Sorry, but nothing will satisfy the nutter crowd. He’s talking to us.
What about the christo-racist terrorist?
No mention about them shooting up churches and women’s health clinics?
Aren’t all nuts killing people terrorists?
I came away from this OK with his message but not totally satisfied for some reason. I think Josh hit it on the head in his editorial this morning.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/is-more-required
Yes they are. However Obama could not have addressed this last night without losing the very part of the audience he needed to reach. As Josh points out this was not the best venue to speak of gun control either.
Obama always plays the long game and sometimes at great risk of agitating those having attention deficit issues…
Food for thought?

I thought he needed to address this since the con-bags are fire breathing racists.
But, felt he missed a golden opportunity to address all terrorism, not just muslims. By pointing out terrorists are terrorists regardless of what bible (or karan) they thump.
I thought so also. But having slept on it and read Josh’s editorial this morning I tend to agree with Josh. Obama’s chat needed to be pretty narrowly focused and not bring up peripheral topics that could incite the more distrustful and skeptical among us.
Not that they are not already being whipped into a frenzy by the irresponsible opposition desperate to count coup politically.
