Dare I hope this starts a trend…Phoenix, AZ perhaps?
Good on them! I live in Chicago and the local republican rag, the Chicago Tribune goes out of its way not to mention anything too critical of trump. Take foreign dirt? Not a mention, nada, zilch. I don’t subscribe to them, but I look in on them out of a morbid curiosity.
The Mike Royko wannabe, John Kass nary mentions anything critical of trump, but is all over Biden for flipping on the Hyde amendment.
That said, the Chicago Sun-Times, the paper that isn’t run by union-busting thugs, did have a great headline after the Charlottesville tragedy and trump’s horrible response: FAKE PRESIDENT
I also live here, and have accepted the fact that the SENTINEL has always supported R candidates…that’s ok…some of our REPUBLICANS are real REPUBLICAN conservatives. always have been and always will be…all in all , ORLANDO is a decent, progressive community… I don’t have issues with REP, like ROMNEY…I don’t care if he is rich and a Mormon. I may disagree with some of his policies…but that is what makes the world go 'round.
I’m sure a: “I’ve discovered a cure for cancer! We’ll be presenting it very soon!” tweet will be forthcoming.
Yes, but if Trump is plummeting, the Senators will have to take a stand …
the BABY TRUMPf balloon will be in ORLANDO…
Trend? I’d say yes, definitely! The trickle of the withdrawal of support is starting. Soon, it will be a steady flow. The public will vocally turn on the Dotard, and that will be that. Nancy is right about one thing. Impeachment will not remove this travesty from office. That job will fall to the people, with the 4th Estate leading the way.
…in a corner.
The editorial is actually somewhat disappointing in that it really held back on its criticism.
For example, how can it cite the pure evil of his separating children from their families without also adding “and putting them in cages”? I know the board couldn’t mention every horrendous thing he’s done without dedicating multiple pages but some shouldn’t have been seemingly glossed over.
Good on them for publishing it nonetheless, especially with it being timed for his wannabe triumphant arrival. Quite the slap in his face.
Now, sit back and wait for the “failing Orlando Sentinel” tweet in 3 … 2 … 1 ….
“Because there’s no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump. After 2½ years we’ve seen enough.”
As have the majority of Americans and the world. This is going to burn Trump’s britches when he hears about this.
Heh, watch for the statement in the Orlando rally about how the Sentinel is a failing newspaper and will be shut down, just like the NYT.
He won’t let this one get by him, for sure. And the minions will applaud wildly.
I lost the ‘morbid curiosity’ urge to glance at the Trib a while back…I kept losing my appetite.
John Kass will die knowing he’s a third or fourth string bench warmer compared to Royko.
I sure Hope Trump doesn’t give the wackos in Florida any ideas tonight, but I’m not optimistic.
The “supporters” being interviewed in Orlando by MSNBC are frightening:
“He doesn’t Lie”
“You (the media) need to leave him alone”
“We’ll re-elect him for 2020 and then for 2024, I hope his son runs”
ADD…NAUSEUM.
This from two white women. Granted, they had a trailer park air to them. (I know…I know…“elitest” but it’s the truth)
They may re-elect him, but we won’t.
Exactly…I wonder if typing at a keyboard or holding a pen could be considered using a weapon and a “Stand Your Ground” justification.
John Kass is barely a Little League bench warmer. Rex Hupke though is way enjoyable Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This brings up some interesting dynamics.
Corruption, graft, blackmail and being turned by a foreign power
Why McConnell and the GOP Senate, Kavanaugh, Barr and every other Trump enabler do what they do is known.
Trump is a part of a gangster cult which, for its operational people (who I refer to above), does “business” behind closed doors.
For example, why Barr and McConnell do what they do has nothing to do with the American people they took an oath to serve. Rather, it is the meetings, whispers, compromise, hidden arrangements and rank corruption.
But what about support by major newspapers? Major magazines? Major networks (besides FOX)?
Can they articulate why Trump should be chosen for POTUS? What would they say? How would they say it? What would be the argument?
This is articulation for the PEOPLE…not for the secret Deal Barr made with Trump. Or the one he made with Kavanaugh. Or the one he made with McConnell. Or Manafort. Or Stone. Or McGahn. Or Flynn.
Or Hicks. Or (Justice) Kennedy. Or…
Is Trump’s existence as POTUS dependent on what the people want? Or is it just the leverage he has?
And if that is the case, maybe FOX should simply be honest and endorse Trump.
Because he’s got something on a ton of people
How 'bout we fill it with water and do a balloon drop when he climbs onstage?
…out of the range of impact.
