The government announced that Joseph Stiglitz, who won the Nobel Prize in economics in 2001, would be one member of an international panel formed to review Panama’s legal and financial practices and recommend improvements.
Not holding my breath for anything to change in regard to kleptocracies and tax evasion in general. That said, we would all benefit playing by some rational changes in the loopholes that literally take food out of many mouths. It is on all of us. Likely an epidemic or two on a large scale (think rampant deadly influenza) will shock some change.
The Panama Papers are too big to be a big deal or something.
This is a beg effing deal and yet almost narry a headline.
This is the chance to take some o these king pins down and to return huge amounts of money to where it belongs. We need this.
