Discussion: O'Reilly Lawyers Mistakenly Send Strategy Emails To Politico

“You all should know that I will not put up with much more from FNC.”

The world will be a better place when Murdoch and Ailes kick the bucket, but the hubris of O’Reilly is hilarious here—Murdoch and Ailes made O’Reilly’s career.

You know, if Ailes was still there, that “strategy” may have had a chance as he was such a reactive personality. Ailes would react, even overreact, to any perceived slight. But as he’s no longer in the picture, that idea had no chance.

O’Reilly would have been better off just masturbating to those e-mails…and he could “do it live”.

I’m not sure why he, at 67, wanted to stay on the show in the first place.

I’d gladly accept tens of millions of dollars to not appear on Fox News. If Fox is interested, they can contact me here through TPM.

Calling it a “smear campaign” might be somewhat more useful if the allegations weren’t true.

You TELL 'EM, Bill!

Why assume that Dipshit’s sent the email to Politico by a lawyer. It seems more plausible that a staff member sent it. Typing up Dipshit’s defense may have angered a staffer???

Lawyers are regulated by formal canons of ethics. Media firms, not so much.

No wonder these guys got so cranked up over Hillary’s e-mail.

They don’t understand how it works!

Lawyers knowing the case is doomed but why not take it to the furthest motions and bill those hours at bigly rates.

He has completely lost what little mind he had left.

Wait. It was not mis-sent to an attorney, but to Politico. No ethical canons apply to Politico. Right?

Well at least he’s consistent, an idiot, yes, but a consistent idiot. There, take that liberal media!.

Right. Ethical canons… which do not bind non lawyers like media orgs.

Correct. I was only replying to the specific post above from JGabriel. Politico can do what they want with it (in general so long as it isn’t some sort of other protected information).

I don’t believe it was a mistake. People keep sending Politico things ‘by mistake’.

I agree. And I could be wrong, but I believe journalistic ethics to get at the truth required Politico to not ignore this email or return it.

The idea that Faux News would cave to liberal protests is ludacris in its face.
