Discussion: Oregon's Climate Change Bill Appears To Be Defeated By Fleeing GOP State Senators

That’s gonna make a helluva campaign poster for Oregon Dem’s running in 2020.

As soon as they return, whip that bill right out for a vote.

And this summer’s fire season is about to begin. The last two have had brutal air quality throughout most of Oregon. And China quality visibility.

But according to the Republicans, doing something about all that would be too much.

There’s got to be an app for that. All aside, this is no way to govern.

I know it’s short of the usual 7 years but if a court declares them dead, can the governor appoint replacements?

I’ve been looking for a shred of evidence the Guardians Of Plunderers are NOT a death cult. Alas, nothing yet.

Not liking this rewarding bad behavior only get more bad behavior. Anybody from Oregon here? How is this being reported

Tensions were already smoldering in the Oregon Senate Wednesday, when Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas, poured gasoline on the situation, suggesting he would shoot and potentially kill any state trooper sent to haul him unwillingly back to the Capitol.

That’s what I’m wondering… Headfake to lure them back into the State… Maybe send the cops out to their homes tomorrow night to arrest them…

My understanding is Rethugliklans prefer to stay in hotel rooms reserved by their wives with their mistresses.

Because what they believe props them up (from assorted shortcomings they are embittered about), they work harder at being Republicans.

What I believe does not “prop me up”

What I believe enhances my regard for other people.

I suspect that most of us on this site feel this way, more or less…but hate seems to be a better political motivator for too many people especially on the Right.

Dangerous capitulation to domestic terrorists, and to those within government who do their bidding.

This will likely produce many anticipated and unforeseen negative consequences going forward. God help us.

Dealing with children, parents often have to use better methods. Same here.

Hey, if you folks won’t rake your forests, don’t blame the GOP.

Oregon has tried to work with the companies to find ways of minimizing impacts to their procedures and profits while protecting the public. No such consideration is given to the public by the industry for the health, environmental, and social negative impacts they and their products cause. I think it’s time for a flat Negative Impacts Tax on all fossil fuel producers and distributors. They’ll just have to pay it, and we’ll have to make sure it’s high enough to be useful for mitigation until we green energy them right out of business as well as enough to offset the public damages they cause.

Oregonians need to elect fewer Republicans. But they also need to re-think their rules on legislative sessions. And maybe on quorums (quora?)

I understand they have their very own discount booking site, called Iago.com.

Too oblique?

There is no Resistance.

More of the Urbs vs Rubes warz. White conservative rural grievance is a nationwide phenomenon. OR is no exception.

With the state’s population becoming more concentrated around Portland, and Eastern Oregon and Multnomah County becoming so politically disparate, the political voices of East Oregonians have become increasingly silenced. A state that at one time was politically homogeneous has become as polarized as anywhere in the country.
