Discussion: Opposition To All Things Obama At Heart Of GOP Splintering

@SpocksBlackPants

Martha didn’t even bother to phone in a campaign, barely went through the motions, and was a candidate in name only. HRC has indeed has been running as hard as she can for as long as she’s needed to.

And they were supporting before Congress’ summer break. I think the only tactical flaw was not ramming it through before the opposition was created by Dick Army & his ilk.

I laugh out loud every time I hear that quote. Lindsey Graham is not wrong… There would be no Trump campaign without Obama, much in the same way there would be no racists if not for all the non-white people out there. When he says this, all I hear is, “You know, out base wouldn’t be so mad and crazy, if only the Democrats would stop winning national elections. It’s their fault…”

the ACA is essentially the plan that the heritage foundation developed in 1989 to preserve the private insurance market.

the reason the republicans can’t come up with an alternative plan is bc they don’t have anymore ideas, bc obama stole their plan. brilliant, bc he knew the republicans would oppose their own plan just to spite him, only bc they can’t stand a black man taking any kind of credit. especially and educated one.

racism is as alive and well in the u.s. as it’s ever been.

Yup. And if you ask them what they hate about the ACA, they’ll give you some canned nonsense about a “Government takeover of health care,” which is, of course, nowhere to be found in the Act. The irony is that a lot of the people who are angriest about the ACA are the people who are benefiting the most from it.

The blood of the Republican party is solely on the hands of the GOP.

They have spent 8 years single-mindedly doing every thing they could do to destroy the Obama presidency. They told their base the twice majority elected Obama stole the elections through their efforts to end non-existent’ voter fraud’. They didn’t simply oppose Obama policies as being unwise, but rather insisted that the POTUS ‘hated America’, ‘hated our way of life’ was a traitor, wanted to ‘destroy America’, wasn’t even an American, etc. and refused to show the office of president any respect whatsoever.

The ACA (aka ‘Obamacare’) originated at the Heritage Foundation and implemented by Romney in Mass. But when Obama sought to take this market based conservative approach nationally, he became a war on Americas to destroy their health care. By the way, the reason the GOP can’t come up with an alternative to the ACA is because the ACA is the conservative alternative he national health insurance, the GOP refused any and all cooperation or negiotations on the ACA. Compare this to Democratic cooperation on ‘No Child Left Behind’. but I digress.

If one actually believed everything they told their base about Obama’s plans to destroy our country and it’s economy, how could you not become a revolutionary?

They refused cooperation with the President on anything and everything and then when legislation passed without their support, like the ACA, they claimed partisan over-reach.

The have destabilized our democracy and ruined the authority of the presidency for at least a generation.

This is on them, and the country will never heal until GOP leaders own what they have done. Which is probably sometime just after hell freezes over.

A nothing article. Two minutes wasted out of my life reading it (four times).

I have a better idea. A four word article…in both English and Spanish.

Republican voters are racists.

Votantes republicanos son racistas.

They are the epitome of the term “poorly educated”. These people have no idea how government works

See? It is Obama’s fault!

@marnold

I hated her in '08, because I hated what her husband’s administration did to the Democratic party and the arrogance of her campaign then brought it all back for me. But losing clearly humbled her. She’s listening and she’s working for it. Humility and the ability to learn are precious rare qualities in our political class

I am with you there but mostly because I was so into Obama and hated the mean spirited campaign she ran. I have softened on her and I do believe she has evolved.

“The candidate has assembled a growing coalition of blue-collar workers, high-school educated and those craving a no-nonsense candidate.”

Yes, when I think of Donald Trump, “no-nonsense” is the first description that comes to mind.
Yet another example of how bad our media has become.

Well said. That was the beginning of the GOP downfall when they failed to see how the TPs were going to take their party down but instead embraced them. They have reaped what they have sown

If, in a Creative Writing Course, there were some demonstrated way to consistently cram the same amount of stupidity into equal or fewer words than the bracketed sentence above, that Professor would deserve tenure, a raise, a new position and a new title.

Postscript: NOT your statement, Maxaroo…just using your citing of it

I was about three paragraphs in and then remember, “Oh, it’s an AP article.” Sad.

Obama is just the latest version. The last Dem, Clinton, faced similar issues when Newt and that bunch took over. Granted, they did work a bit better with the president but only barely. The current crop is largely the same people or those that were afraid of him too.

They are afraid of Obama. Both because he looks like an outsider to them but also because there is a D next to his name. To them that is almost treason in and of itself. At least to the core voters that are for conservatism.

Not me. Do I wish he could have gotten more done? yes! but it wasn’t his fault because no president I know of worked harder trying.

Chee-rist, I’ve got to do better job at remembering the names of the villains. I only regret there won’t be any more discussion of a rotating first lady for Miss Lindsey.
