Sure sure it was a swell bill! The non prioritisation of healthcare itself was a refreshing surprise!

The “American Health Care Act” – specifically tailored to take the “patient protection” and “affordable” out of health care.

Was there no bartering chickens or homemade pickles category?

Nations used to spend inordinate amounts of time branding themselves. Look at how branding of Japanese products went from “cheap” to “good quality”. It was decades of work. Modernly, you can only brand something as “American” if the sector has itself made huge efforts to assure quality. Google has a good brand. Chevy has struggled long to rehabilitate itself, but neither are willing to make a big deal about their “American-ness”. Without that, American Health Care Act is synonymous with Shitty Health Care Act.

For a political party that is 24/7/365 about the benjamins this is what “healthcare” looks like.

I see this morning Josh says these town halls aren’t “going so well”. I speak only for myself but I won’t be tired of this kind of “winning” until at least 2018–maybe 2020 or 2024.

Hey, it’s legislation as Performance Art.

It is amazing isn’t it, as delicate as nature itself. Saw a Chipotle ad on the tele last night. There’s a company with a business model that was going to the moon but for not one, but two devastating bad news blows of disease-causing bacteria that sickened dozens of customers. And then tried to blame the CDC protocol.

And it will take years for them to recover. But one more strike (sick customers) over say the next two years and they may never recover.

Use to sell Hyundai’s about 20 years ago. Lousy reputation back then. Today, a top seller with great branding. Grew up driving Chevys but haven’t owned one in 50 years.

Republicans really screwed the pooch big time with the AHCA. And at the same time branded themselves as ‘not being able to get things done’. How they screwed up is kind of shocking considering they understand branding better than the Democrats ever could.

Walden: “There is a lot of reform with health care that is being done on a bipartisan basis and will be done on a bipartisan basis,” he said at a town hall last week.

Is there now, Greg? Pray, tell us more about all the across-the-aisle cooperation that has suddenly bloomed.

@lastroth At least he didn’t call it “the health care” like Mnuchin. (I picked up the same thing, and am still puzzling over this apparent verbal tic.)

These animals want to deprive people of health care.

But to them, that was a good thing to do! America cannot afford to treat all of her citizens equally! Benefits are only given to those who are extremely wealthy people to keep their engines churning, while our engines sputters and dies!

Seriously, are we that damn dumb? I hope the HELL NOT!

None of them have learned the lesson of that bill. Obama has won. Americans want the ACA fixed. They don’t want it killed. You see it over and over again, in poll after poll.

Tell your member of congress to fix the ACA. Help it work or be prepared to find a new job in 2018…

But mainly to take the “Obama” out of anything.

Ha ha. They failed spectacularly, after bitching about it for 7 years. You lied, repeatedly, for years, and now everyone knows.

But they’re right about that “market chaos” thing. Trump and Price are going to do their best to make insurance impossible for as many people as possible.

IMO… from what I’ve picked up on CNBC is as follows. When Mnuchin was nominated several people had favorable things to say–about his father. Yesterday the FT interview broke, that is was put in front of the Wall Street village, and though it dealt directly and adversely with a very important subject to The Industry, the market didn’t move that much. It looks to me as if Mnuchin was just sent over to understudy Cohn, who is important. And Mnuchin’s not very bright. Just born very rich. A familiar story.
Edit:AFAIK they still haven’t staffed the department. You’d think they would have done that if they thought it was important.

@outsidertrading618 So, applying Trump’s Razor: Use of “the…” is basically stupid people trying to demonstrate their familiarity with something they know jackshit about. (see Drumpf, Giuliani, et al) You’re probably right.

“Don’t worry citizens! We Republicans in DC won’t stop dismantling Obamacare until you’re all DEAD!”

Resorting to the passive voice. Never a good sign.

At least in theory, being good at branding is a poor substitute for being good at, you know, actually doing things. Not always true, but here, satisfyingly, true.
