Back in my high school years, pre Roe, we were fortunate enough to have New York state as a neighbor. Abortions were legal there, when they weren’t elsewhere. (They had also lowered their drinking age to 18, so NYC field trips were extra special.) I have several classmates who “crossed state lines” because of unwanted pregnancies. I did not know about Puerto Rico being an option, but then I wasn’t very sexually knowledgeable in high school.
Tell me again how Kasich is the Moderate Republican Alternative to Trump. There is no moderate Republican. Jeff Flake just gave another floor speech criticizing Trump–after helping stalemate the most recent temporary funding proposal. Moderate is another word for self-righteous phoney.

My grandmother, originally a Polish peasant who had 9 children and worked a farm, was a devout Catholic. However, she was in favor of the right to an abortion. She said (in her native tongue as she never learned to speak English fluently) she knew too many married women who had multiple children, loved each and every one, but knew they couldn’t feed any more. She told horror stories about “home remedies” that desperate women tried to control the size of their families. This may be where we’re headed again.

I don’t like using pro-life because they are most assuredly not in their eagerness to execute prisoners. For now to use that label identifies them as a group. But forced birthers might work going forward.
