Discussion: Ohio GOP Guv's Nonsense: Medicaid Expansion Isn't 'Connected' To O-Care

I’m surprised, in their attempts to disassociate themselves from anything having to do with this president, that they haven’t yet taken to referring to the Affordable Care Act as “Romneycare.”

Give them time…

If it is different than it was 5 years ago then it is Obamacare, full stop. The system was getting worse and destined to crash while it helped to bankrupt the nation before Obamacare and now we have tens of millions of people receiving affordable coverage and the nation is saving money and whittling down it’s debt quickly.

The massive success of the ACA presents unique opportunities for the Republicans to lie, which they never miss an opportunity to do. They don’t get any credit whatsoever for helping or caring but they do get to be seen as complete assholes that lie and could care less about their constituents health and lives. The success of Obamacare is a lose-lose-lose for the Republicans. Let hem talk up what they claim are the good parts of the law, it is all Obamacare.

There is no such thing as repeal and go back to the shitty system that we had-care.

Reviewing all the promises from Republicans it looks like they want to repeal Obamacare “root and stem” but let the Medicaid expansion stay, keep the part about your kids staying on your plan until 26, no more cancelling when you get sick, no more preexisting condition denial and a few other things.

Bottom line is the GOP plans to change the name from Obamacare to NotObamacare.

Agreed. He would be doing Fitzgerald a favor if he tried to tie him to the President and his policies.

Maybe the trick to getting politicians to stop spouting stupid bullshit is for people to stop buying it?

To be fair, a journalist didn’t say it about Grimes either.

Isn’t it 100% now and 90% later, period, not simply “matching”?

And he is suppose to be one of the “smart” republicans? My imaginary grandchildren have more brains and sense than he does.

Republicans have a long history of supporting progressive policies… as long as you don’t call them progressive or associated with Democrats.

Remarkable ability to lie with a straight face. It’s not as if any Republican voter even cares. They want the ability to enjoy the work of Democrats in DC, and President Obama, while still demonizing them! Derp!

No, it isn’t matching funds, it is total.

Medicaid expansion is what the ACA is largely about. This man is just being stupid, or playing to the ignorant base.

It’s not just not part of any of their plans, it’s specifically excluded. Because expanding Medicaid is giving free stuff to lazy people.

Republicans take a very principled stand in favor of ripping out ineffective government programs that are too dysfunctional to repair, so why can’t you Democrats give the Republicans a break and let them do the same to effective, well functioning government programs?

Sadly, there appears to be plenty of evidence that those assumptions are safe, especially for the first group.

Yes, yes. We know. Freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength. And we have always been at war with Eastasia.

And as long as the policies are not actually beneficial for people beyond the upper tax brackets.

Black is white and yellow, blue, there’s two sides to every story, we report, you decide. Either decision is valid as far as we’re concerned.

Gov. Pizzaface accidentally told the truth, and now, like a political prisoner in the old Mao days, has to be re-educated.
