Discussion: OH Senator Vows To Work With Obama Admin. To Make McKinley's Legacy Known

Discussion for article #239959

“Sen. Brown will reach out to the Administration and the DOI to identify next steps,”

Next step: Obama telling you to go eat a bag of dicks. He has no need to make some sort of restitution to Ohio for the name change. NONE.

The Affordable Care Act will be known in Ohio as McKinleyCare.

How about they rename Reagan National Airport after McKinley?

Ask yourself honestly…how often a year do you think of Mt. McKinley and when you do do you reflect on that president? The mountain, as big as it is, doesn’t prompt anyone to think of President McKinley. If you want folks to do that ask McDonalds to make McKinley burger ( with tons of bacon ) and you’ll make him the topic of the day.

Why can’t the State of Ohio do this themselves with a natural or un-natural resource in their own State?

Re-name the Ohio Turnpike, the stadium in Cincy… anything. But the name of the mountain in Alaska has always been Denali, from all reports.

Not sure what the stink is all about, except Obama. A republican President wouldn’t have even gotten an honorable mention as a news story of the day.

How about taking Jackson off the $20 bill, and putting McKinley?

“Sen. Brown will reach out to the Administration and the DOI to identify next steps,” she wrote in an email.

In other words: Sen. Brown thinks whining about a name change of a mountain in another state is laughably stupid, but he’ll pretend for another two minutes that he’s got one fuck to give. Although, I assure you, he does not.

Any rest stops off of a major Ohio interstate that need naming?

Maybe the reason McKinley might be forgotten is because he did very little worth remembering?

Yeah.

You’d think Obama had nuked it considering the outrage.

I’m beginning to think Obama has a small team of secret researchers spending 12 hours a day trying to find things like this with which he can troll the GOPers/Teatrolls hahaha

I’m pretty fed up with renaming all this stuff after people, and politics has nothing to do with it. It costs money to do this every time. I live in NYC, and I will always say “Triboro Bridge” and “59th Street Bridge” (though some say “Queensborough”). There was no need to name this bridges after RFK or Koch, even if they are Dems. No need for it. Complete waste of money and time. If you want, put a nice plaque on the bridge honoring them.

I agree with Obama on this one only because it was done wrong in the first place, it never should have been changed to McKinley.

Obama overstepped his authority because only Ohio gets to name places in Alaksa.

I strongly disagree with the President’s decision to change the name of Mount McKinley to Denali.

He should’ve honored the Palin family’s unique legacy to Alaska, by renaming it Mount Bristol.

(Too mean?)

How’d have thunk that Pres. McKinley would be a meme during this campaign?

Actually, he’s already on currency (I was amazed to find out how many places…).
