Discussion: Obama's LGBT Hiring Executive Order Will Not Include Religious Exemption

I’m sure it will be a hot topic. One that smells strongly of wintergreen, but hot.

Wait, you created a profile on TPM just to leave this comment? Tell us more about wasting time, incompetence, and having too strong of an opinion about oneself…

(Sorry for the snark, but I have no tolerance for stupidity or dishonesty.)

Now we will see if there is a Constitutional right to a government contract.

Sweetly next time try and make sense when you leave a comment. As it stands now you just look like a homophobic ODS sufferer.

Contracts are people too.

Kick this piece of slime to the curb where it belongs.

Place to listen to may be the Reboot 2014 - the GOP / Libertarian gathering in the Bay Area this weekend - where silicon valley types who say they are Libertarian ( ignorantly avoiding the racist history that still exists) that is totally funded by Koch Bros.
It will be interesting to see how the Speakers ( including Rand and Cathy McMorris-Rogers) will tippy-toe around these issues.

Although this may especially rub the teabagging right the wrong way, it isn’t exactly the intent. It’s just that anything getting done or changed for the better gets their goat.
I mean for example, if President Obama decided to name all goat farms after George W. Bush, in his honor, of course. Then proceeded to name individual goats notable republican names like, Cheney, Cheney, Dick, Dick, Richard, George, Karl, Lizzie, Babs, Raygun, in their honor of course, and so on, they would still get outraged because they can’t even agree with compliments. Plus goats don’t like their goat to be got, or is it begat?

What is wrong with them ; )

That was goat … err … great. I wanna join your happy hour!

First, the United States is a secular nation. With which supposedly religious employers is the federal government contracting?

Second, the Bible celebrates martyrs who died for their faith. MLK willingly served jail time for his. So I’m sorry, but it’s really, really hard to seriously respect the convictions of a person who isn’t even willing to sacrifice their self-perceived entitlement to maintain a business relationship with the U.S. government.

Well hell.
Everybody else covered this comment well enough.

I live in San Francisco, not too far from the hotel where this lovefest is being held, so I get to say “There goes the neighborhood.”

The order does, however, maintain an executive order by President George W. Bush that allows religious employers to prioritize hiring members of their religion, according to the official.

I’m sure that the right wingers will complain about the favoritism and affirmative-action type of hiring here, right?
Right…???

No, because legacy admits, affirmative action and favoritism in hiring is OKAY if you are a a right-wing (therefore hypocritical) citizen.

Right.

Teahadist logic = Opposing the KKK make you a bigot.

Pathetic.

Guess what. The churches can do and hire whoever they want. If they want a federal contract and collect government $$$$ they have to not discriminate.

Want to bet most churches would rather collect govt. $$$$ then uphold their predjudice. With the exception of the Bryan Fisher types, who are so insane as I’d imagine him refusing to get care in an ER if his doctor was gay.
