This ‘leader’ of ours can’t ‘find’ any money to fix the plumbing in Flint?
I am afraid Flint is just the beginning. Republican refusal to address our infrastructure problem is going to bite us big time over the next decade.
I heard on the radio this morning from Flint residents that most are afraid to even just shower in the water they have now as it stings their eyes.
I mean how long has it been? Can’t the pres and Dems find some emergency funds. Don’t they have any way to declare for emergency funds or ‘find’ some funds?
Blame the dems for everything right Darcy? The Governor is the one who is responsible for his state. Just what do you expect Obama and the dems to do Darcy. Perhaps you should read the article
"He (Obama) declared a state of emergency in mid-January and ordered federal aid to supplement the state and local response. At that point, however, the crisis was in full bloom.
A Senate committee last week approved a $220 million aid package as part of a broader bill that would authorize nearly $4.8 billion for water-related projects around the country. The bill could come up for a Senate vote in May."

Four months ago:
LANSING President Barack Obama on Saturday declared a federal emergency in Flint, freeing up to $5 million in federal aid to immediately assist with the public health crisis, but he denied Gov. Rick Snyder’s request for a disaster declaration.
A disaster declaration would have made larger amounts of federal funding available more quickly to help Flint residents whose drinking water is contaminated with lead. But under federal law, only natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods are eligible for disaster declarations, federal and state officials said. The lead contamination of Flint’s drinking water is a manmade catastrophe.
The president’s actions authorize the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate responses and cover 75% of the costs for much-needed water, filters, filter cartridges and other items for residents, capped initially at $5 million. The president also offered assistance in finding other available federal assistance, a news release Saturday from the White House said.
Congrats Mr. President. Know get er done.
Why yes. Yes they can! Not only can they, but they did, and are doing.
Boy are you behind the times, my dear friend! Not paying attention, but I am here to help you out!
FACT SHEET: Federal Support for the Flint Water Crisis Response and Recovery
Of course, once Congress gets off their asses and allocate some real money, here’s what Nobammer and the Dems are doing right now!!
On January 16, 2016, President Obama issued an emergency declaration for the State of Michigan and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions in Flint, Michigan, affected by contaminated water. The President’s action authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide water, water filters, water filter cartridges, water test kits, and other necessary related items; assistance with those commodities has been extended through August 14, 2016.
Not only that but;
Federal officials have worked with state and local partners to improve access to bottled water and water filters.
FEMA has provided over 9.3 million liters of water to the state for distribution, over 50,000 water and pitcher filters, and over 243,000 filter replacement cartridges.
HUD has worked with the Flint Housing Commission to ensure 100% installation, the future upkeep of water filters in every unit of public housing, and HUD’s Federally-assisted and HUD-insured properties.
In addition, HUD is working with local partners to ensure that seniors and disabled residents in public housing receive and have continuing access to clean water.
And also:
HHS continues to work with healthcare providers and local officials to offer blood lead testing to as many children and residents as possible.
To assist with the testing initiative, USDA temporarily authorized blood lead screening at clinics for participants in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
HUD is working with a local provider to offer onsite blood lead testing for children in public housing.
Oh! There’s more! But I’ll let you go on and follow the link, ya know, so you can get yerself right and current with all that the Obummers are doing, within their power, to help out the people of Flint.
I hope you like talking to the wall while beating your head against it at the same time, because that’s what it’s like trying to reason with the unreasonable. But I admire and respect your effort.
Love the chimp photo. Very cute
Seriously, @darcy my man. I hope that you read all 59 paragraphs in the link I posted for your benefit.
What do you think of that response? Does it fall short of your expectations? What more should the President be doing, in your opinion? I think he’s gone there today with a shovel and a bulldozer to start digging up those corroded pipes. Oh wait, maybe not…
Oh no, our good friend @darcy means well, chammy. He was unaware, and I’m sure that he’ll backtrack on his comments after becoming educated as to the actions that the Executive Branch of the federal government has taken on behalf of the citizens of Flint. I am awaiting a response from the good fellow, acknowledging that he might have spoken too soon and a little bit off tone.
“but I am here to help you out!”
Yeah, out the back door or a 3rd story window!
As I posted above:
" but he (O’bomber) denied Gov. Rick Snyder’s request for a disaster declaration."
“A disaster declaration would have made larger amounts of federal funding available more quickly to help Flint residents whose drinking water is contaminated with lead.”
Let’s get er done!
What a vicious attack, being double teamed by cat (who I thought was my friend) and the notorious diva UFC champ Chammy, trying to get me to tap out!
(I’ll deal with you later Mr. Cat).
BTW just read James Comey to question Hillary next Tuesday.
“What more should the President be doing, in your opinion?”
Four months in with a two year history of lies and abuse and not a single fucking hole has been dug.
In Flint, between 6,000 and 12,000 children have been exposed to drinking water with high levels of lead and they may experience a range of serious health problems.[1] Due to the change in water source, the percentage of Flint children with elevated blood-lead levels may have risen from about 2.5% in 2013 to as much as 5% in 2015.
On January 5, 2016, the city was declared to be in a state of emergency by the Governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, before President Barack Obama declared it as a federal state of emergency, authorizing additional help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
This president can’t even organize a two car funeral.
" I am awaiting a response from the good fellow, acknowledging that he might have spoken too soon and a little bit off tone."
Ain’t gonna happen and please stop talkin’ out your ass.
