What a powerful story, on several levels!
So much for Obama never consulting Republicans, and not just consulting but heeding, at least when they make sense.
But I wonder how the GOP will react to this.
What I find most interesting is that this also shows that Joe Biden coming out in support of marriage equality was most likely not a gaffe at all, but was likely part of the plan all along. A lot of folks thought Biden had accidentally forced PBO’s hand on the issue when he expressed his support. This leads me to believe it was all by design. This was an alley oop in which Biden set it up and the president slam dunked it.
There were a few who saw the connection and raised the point of how convenient it was to create this path to “evolution” at the time.
To me it’s funny how some key political figure does something to challenge the conventional “right leaning U.S.” meme and it turns out to be a huge political winner.
Pot legalization looks to be next.
When will political figures do it with gun control?
They’ve tried. Obama tried, Bloomberg continues to give it hell. The problem is that the gun fetishists are far more enthusiastic and will vote on that issue alone. Even though most Americans are pro-reform, few people vote solely on the issue of gun control.
