Trump’s claims don’t jibe (not jive) with the facts.
To the speech:
A lot that was claimed last night was wrong, distorted and misinforming, but Trumpeteers don’t want facts, they want rage and fear.

TPM isn’t the only place I saw the mistaken word “jive” instead of the correct “jibe.”
People who write news articles often demonstrate their poor grasp of grammar.
Obama is playing this correctly. He doesn’t want to get in a mudslinging match with Trump while he is still President; it would diminish Obama and would elevate Trump. Trump would love to do battle with Obama directly.

I caught a few minutes of the press conference this morning. I am going to miss President Obama. Calm, rational and smart; the polar opposite of Hair Furor. The fight is not over; on to November!

CBS screwed it up, too, but most got it right. I think reporters who don’t know that the proper word is “jibe” are the ones who got it wrong, because they heard what they expected to hear and have heard all along.

Who are these people who get to ask questions of important people and seem not to have researched the background of what they are asking?
Asking Obama to react to an out and out lie by Trump should be prefaced by: as the statistics show that crime is down in the Us since you took office, how do you react to Trump saying it is up?
What’s so hard about that. They know the facts but refuse to say anything as if they will be charged with bias if they do mention the facts.

I wish Obama could have responded with “You’re a journalist, you deal in facts, you tell me if violent crimes are lower now than before or if Trump’s claims are not true.”

There are many more UPPITY non-white and non-male people nowadays, no doubt about it. That constitutes a HUUUUUGE CRIME WAVE that must be halted and arrested by any and all means.
