This is going to be a replay of LBJ v. Goldwater in 1964. Might even reach the blowout in Nixon v. McGovern.
Obama, who has reportedly been eager to critique Trump on the trail, made room in his speech to take a thinly-veiled swipe at the real estate mogul
Ok, I’ll bite. What was the “thinly-veiled swipe”?
And…updated to include the swipe. Thanks!
Hillary has never sold steaks, flipped real estate for a quick buck or promoted a beauty pageant. What is Obama thinking?
She’s never even filed Chapter 11!
And this is really what it’s (partially) about, isn’t it? being able to go out on the campaign trail, with the current POTUS who has very high approval ratings, having your back.
The GOP hasn’t been in that position in years and will never be again.
The Dem Party can show unity just by having our top leaders out on the trail together representing the diversity of the Party and the country.
Little hyperbolic, but she is certainly well qualified.
Senator, and SoS are good examples of relevant experience.
Nixon’s resume was impressive too. Governor of CA, and VP.
Or Bush Sr. Congressman, UN Ambassador Dir. of CIA, VP.
Then we have Obama, with a comparatively thin resume, and look at his accomplishments.
Resume isnt everything. We need to keep up the work if we are to avoid the Trump.
If resume mattered it would have been Biden in 08.
Cant be complacent.
Edit:
Got my wires crossed on the positions he held in/for California. My bad.
Paging Bernie Sanders. Mr. Sanders, please pick up the Red Courtesy Phone. Endorse the lady, Bernie. Doors are just about closed, dude.
Bernie is on his own schedule. There’s a madness to his method.
“Don’t boo,” Obama said. “Vote. Booing doesn’t help. You need to vote.”
God, I’ve missed this line. This needs to be carved in stone over the Obama Library. Every Dem should say this all the time forever.
The name of the game is to GOTV.
The Independents and the Swing Voters are, of course, important. However, there is going to have to be some very heavy lifting on the part of Democrats, especially their core contituencies.
The email business and the Sanders non-endorsement will resonate more (negatively) with Independent and Swing Voters than Democrats. And being on the defensive is going to have to be only for a short period of time.
If Sanders actually believes that he will “do everything in his power to defeat Donald Trump” (which so many of us do not believe), THOSE are the people he would have to convince. FDR was as duplicitous, sneaky and forked-tongued as any politician.
That’s why he effectively used surrogates. And–in this political atmosphere–I cannot think of ANY politician who needs skilled surrogates more than Hillary Clinton.
Its coming…
Waiting on Trumps VP announcement, then it will drop to divide the media attention. He’ll then be doing the joint and separate appearnces.
Then HRCs veep announce to stomp on the RNC in Cleveland…
Then on to Philly, and a grand speech from Bernie on her behalf, but appropriately deferential to the VP and the Clintons.
I trust the choreographers.
Only thing sweeter than Hillary getting elected is if she then nominates Obama to SCOTUS.
I don’t think he’d accept, but I’d love to see the nomination just to see some heads explode on the other side of the aisle.
Obama likely has something more intellectually challenging in mind post-Presidency than a SCOTUS gig.
There’s just madness.
Well, aside from CNN’s satellite feed cutting out for a few minutes towards the end of President Obama’s speech, both Sec. Clinton and President Obama killed it.
Lewandowski was given a “mute” button as part of his CNN gig.
Any ideas what that might be?
He’s still very young, relatively speaking. Other than owning an NBA team, I haven’t seen much speculation.
Can’t be Wall Street.
I knows he’s in DC for two more years, but Silicon Valley? College Professor? A foundation? I really wonder.
Something politics related, probably his non-profit Organizing for Action. He said during that press conference with college student journalist that he will continue to fight about getting out the vote after his presidency.
