I believe you are quite correct, that there will be a high potential to sway people in the years to come to vote Democrat. I think a combination of both driving our base to stay at a high involvement level, while simultaneously highlighting the wreckage that will be the Trump administration, could produce a backlash wave in 2018 similar to what happened in 2010.
Trump lost the majority of voters. He only won three states with less than 100,000…combined. Republicans lost seats in both the House and the Senate. They lost the state of Nevada at the state level completely, and lost ground in many other places as well. They have whatever one calls the opposite of a mandate.
The GOP is not in a great position electorally. 2 years of Trump with a GOP Congress will only make that worse.
