Discussion for article #227981
I want to know more about the support provided by our âArab Friendsâ , especially the Saudis. Nice to see that actions are being taken to dry up ISIS funding sources. OPR yesterday spoke about ISIS militants stopping lorries carrying goods between Syria and Jordan and charging each driver up to $200 toll to pass through. It would seem like that particular avenue could easily be closed while we focus on their sales of oil.
On the surface this all sounds good, it was worth taking time to garner support from other nations, especially those in the region.
Thankfully we have an adult in the White House instead of a stick horse riding Câboy.
I didnât know Monaco had an air force. Isnât that where you can find most of our âArab friendsâ?
There are about 200 (196) countries in the world, so 40 is 20% of the countries on the planet willing to step up.
Not bad, even if they do include countries with populations smaller than Rhode Island.
Proud of the President.
Media looks ridiculous, as usual.
Please donât tell me some of the critics are poker players. Wait⌠maybe I do want to know where they are playing. Iâm banking on the POTUS.
They really are as dumb as they come. Right on the air, even Andrea Mitchell was informing Lawrence OâDonnell that this was a big deal and that surely Syria was being dealt with via back channels, but it was painful to watch the host and some of the âexpertâ guests slowly realizing the significance and importance of this brilliant strategy by Obama.
Looking at MSNBC this morning, it still hadnât sunk in. Not to mention the NYT headlines which were about how the US was âstrugglingâ against ISIS.
(Some were trying then to claim that âthe generalsâ thought it up and sold him on it⌠the lengths they go to deny Obamaâs insight and intellect is astounding!)
Itâs big because the jihadis and rebels can no longer make the claim that the West has it in for Islam with all the Arab states and others on board.
Me too. He sure has a lot of shit sandwiches on his plate and on top of that has to deal with a do nothing disrespectful congress. I donât envy him one bit
I LOVE MY PRESIDENT. I am proud of him every day
Oh come on. Whatâs with the common sense approach? I miss the Bush/Cheney inverse Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid approach (i.e. kick our military out the front door with six shooters). /snark
I so agree with you MyMy. This President doesnât take the generalsâ recommendations without serious thought. That is why I believe this President will never commit to actual combat troops on the ground.
At NBC, the lack of inward sinking may not be registering what with all the outward sinking or, most likely in my opinion, itâs intentional for some corporate farmerâs (Corncast, er Comcast) idea of JoeScarEsque balance. The eager to please Mrs. Greenspan seemed miffed (like Alan hasnât kept her up to speed) for the Saudis last evening and, it seemed, proudly âreportedâ Qatar wasnât a part of the alliance only to be corrected by a lower third title the rest of the evening. Mrs. G might want to pretend to remember the Saudis have an absolutely vicious spy service among other amenitiesâŚ
