Obama talks as if he believes Republicans really care about anything he says. They never have, never will. They have obstructed everything he has tried to do for 6 years and then blamed him for it. If Obama opposes everything they want to do for the next two years they will blame him for it. It’s already a lose-lose situation for him so he must start turning the message against them forcefully and repeatedly, by name, or we’re doomed in 2016. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to have it in him to shame them. He wants to play nice with those who want to destroy him. That’s some bad psychology right there.
Now, whose wearing the “brass balls”, now GOP?
No, actually it is perfect psychology for repubs to re-evaluate their anxious goal of prematurely removing President Obama from office before the end of his term.
Apparently even after 6 years you don’t get it.
As much as I’d love him to say, “Bring it, bitches…” and then drop the mic and walk off the stage, Obama is setting the 'pubs up perfectly, making them look like bigger loons than they already are. If they shut down the government again (and again, and again, and again…), they WILL get the blame for it, and they WILL lose in 2016.
well, chances are they’ll lose in 2016 come hell or high water.
If they shut down the government again (and again, and again, and again…), they WILL get the blame for it, and they WILL lose in 2016.
Why it’s infinitely better to hold the White House than either or both houses of Congress.
If (R)s don’t send him signable legislation-- that’s pretty much too bad.
That? And holding serve with the presidency in '16 also means potential SCOTUS appointments.
Being the biggest prize for the next 6 years-- until the next census/redistricting in '20.

This one line from Obama hints Obama’s got the fighting spirit in high gear. His new attitude seems to be to point out GOTP folly with logic. The only thing he needs to add is repetition. Repeat, repeat, repeat and he will shame GOTP and win the argument.
I feel optimistic since Obama’s apparently finally decided to shame these idjits.
I know this is OT but I’m all for Clinton 2016, but I’m starting to think Warren may be the next POTUS. She’s really very disciplined and repetitive to a fault on her economic message.
The fact is people have woefully short attention spans and no long term memory. If the GOP had shut down the government near election day then they would not have had as an easy time of it as they did.
If Obama hadn’t been elected president he could’ve been a successful diplomat. His words are those of one who understands how to play the game and stay cool at all times unlike the wingnuts who are hot and boiling over and fevered and useless. .
There he goes again, making the mistake of thinking he is dealing with sane people.
I do not think that the President any longer gives a damn what the Republicans think or want. I see a new man since the election, and he is now unencumbered by having Reid in his ear all of the time, telling him not to do this or that, which as we see did not turn out too well in the elections. I see a man who has had enough, and is now going to go after getting as much of those things done as he can, that he campaigned on in 2008 and 2012.
They are playing perfectly into his hands already, with their faux outrage 24/7, and meanwhile he tells them, that they are welcome to pass immigration reform any time they want, but making it clear that he has the Constitutional right to do what he is ready to do, and is going to do it. I also think his answer to a press question about the KXL when he was in China, sent a message to his base that he is going to veto any legislation that passes on it. I may be wrong but I see a new man walking with his head held high and determined.
Republicans disagree there’s a need to fix immigration laws. But he [Obama] says shutting down the government over the issue makes as little sense as if he were to shut down the government in objection to GOP votes to repeal his health care law.
In GOP bizarro world, that ALL makes sense. With Tea Party loons in the mix, they might just do it again. Grandstanding attention addict Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz could and would take a dump in the punchbowl.
I fully expected the government shutdown and impeachment threats would begin as soon as the Republicans got control of the Senate. I’m a little surprised they’ve already started making the threats before they’ve even taken over. I doubt impeachment is going to happen, but a government shutdown seems more and more likely.
Obama making too much sense here
Good. That’s what the Repubs need to hear more often:
“Go ahead and stamp your feet”
Selected Presidential Regular Vetoes:
Gerald Ford* 48
Ronald Reagan 39
George H.W. Bush* 29
Barack Obama 2
Time to catch up President Obama.
*Single term
I guess the foot’s on the other hand now, isn’t it, Kramer?
