The part about responsibility for subcontractors is particularly important, because otherwise the main contractor just subs everything out and washes its hands of the matter.

And, as I’ve said so many times before, when an employee steals from an employer, it’s a crime, and the full force of the legal system comes down on them. When an employer steals from an employee, it’s a civil offense, and almost always the worst “punishment” a company gets is having to pay what it was legally obligated to pay from the beginning.

And Pres. Obama did something else the GOP/MSM won’t talk about or do.

“Non-partisan CBO announces that Pres. Obama has cut the Bush deficit by 70% from the 9.8% of GDP deficit he inherited in 2009 to just 3.1% in 2014.”

The employees are the makers, the investors are the takers.
What we really need is labor representation on the boards of corporations. The labor force it the only part of the corporation that actually creates profit either manufacturing, transporting or sales. It is also the labor force that makes up the consumer your companies well being depends on. Henry Ford understood this and raised his workers pay from $5 a week to $5 a day. He got the best workers and forced the rest of the industry to follow his lead. Henry Ford initiated the 8 hour workday so he could have his factories running 24/7 with well rested workforce while others in the industry had two 10 hour shifts with exhausted workers who would not stay past training so they could work for Ford.

President Paul announced today that the holiday formerly known as “Labor Day” will now be called “Job Creators Appreciation Day.”

Flanked by Commerce Secretary Charles Koch and HHS Secretary David Koch, the President said “This weekend, all Americans are required by law to work three days for no pay. It’s our duty to the men who make the jobs!”

Police arrested several hundred demonstrators who supported third parties in the 2016 election. As they were gassed, clubbed, and Tasered, the crowd chanted “Shoulda Voted Hillary!”

now that’s a skerry though but would make one hell of a horror flick…freddy would have his work cut out for him

Just what workers need more of: labor “leaders” sitting on the boards of corporations, helping companies sell plant closings, layoffs, shipping jobs overseas, wage and benefit cuts, longer hours and worse working conditions. How about labor leaders that understand that labor stands in opposition to the demands of capital and decide to lead a real fight?

There’s nothing for workers to celebrate this weekend, as Labor Day is the U.S. capitalists’ designated holiday for workers. May Day is the traditional workers day around the world. It originated in the U.S. in the 1880s and it’s about time U.S. labor leaders and unions take up its militant attitude again.

Labor representatives sit on corporate boards in Germany, and they export goods, not jobs.
Also, German workers have better pay and benefits and enjoy longer vacations than their American counterparts.
Yes, labor needs to be strong and independent, but they also need to be an effective counterbalance with management. Your “militant” approach seems quixotic.
You seem nostalgic for the days when the Wobblies were getting their heads bashed in by Pinkerton goons – no thanks.

Because capitalism works so well without labor. Some slob has his lawyer throw borrowed money at something and you think he is a maker? The laborer is just as much a capitalist as the investor and it is labor that builds things and creates profit. Stealing their wages is a dangerous plan.
