Once again the Dems have to come in and clean up a mess the GOP created. What the GOP did to the people of Flint is criminal.

And they’ll probably get re-elected. Look at Kansas.

One would hope Snyder and other Republicans would get the bill, not the taxpayers of Michigan and other states. Yes, indeed, one might hope that …

So President Obama once again bails out a Republican Governor. I remember after Hurricane Sandy how folks from Staten Island who had voted for Mitt Rommery in the 2012 election pleaded with President Obama for Federal help.

This kills me, of course the people of Flint deserve the aid, but oh how I wish the assholes that did this to them had to directly pay for the aid they get… And not just with money by the way, I would like to see some time in prison for the worst offenders.

This may be cynical but will we start seeing an uptick in water filtering supplies on eBay? It happens every time the government tries to help people. The thieves and con men come out of the woodwork. And of course no one checks up on who made beaucoups of money.

Elsewhere, a long article was published describing the many smoking gun emails etc. that link the governor to this Crime Against Humanity, his own people. The governor will have a hard time skating on this crime, but I figure he’s likely to escape prison time or execution. I haven’t seen any political criminal or police prosecuted for their crimes and go to prison for years. Now is the time for this governor to pay up, with his life in prison. I do not have the link to that article, not being aware at that time these data were not yet published by other news sources. But, having read it, the guy is facing his own hell now. I hope he suffers horribly the remainder of his worthless life.

The water crisis can be traced to 2014 when the city switched its water supply in an effort to save money. It has resulted in elevated lead levels in residents, particularly children.

The people of the State of Michigan voted to repeal the EFM law in the 2012 general election but the Republican-controlled State Legislature managed to re-install one.

Once again ALL of us have to clean up the GOP created mess. The state did this to save state tax dollars, and now Federal tax dollars have to be used for the clean up. That’s the message to send out to GOP supporters across the country. Hey, Repubs - your boy Snyder just cost YOU a whole lot of money.

Nothing like a small government Republican Governor forced to admit he needs the help of big government and Uncle Sam, but only after he’s royally screwed over an entire population almost single-handedly.

We here in Michigan have been listening to the cries of folks associated with Flint’s water disaster on Michigan Public Radio since around April of 2014, or close to that time when the crisis first started. Thankfully, Rachel Maddow made this a national priority through her dogged reporting. It only took what 18 months?

And this action in Flint to change over the water source to the Flint River came about around the same time as Detroiters had their own water problems due to Snyder’s attempt at heartless shutoffs with an direction by his EFM. His orders trickled down to local politicians, forced to follow through with this cruel and inhumane tactic to squeeze even more out of the poor. Even the U.N. couldn’t get them to stop the practice. And they repeated the same tactic last year and into this year as well. Corporations weren’t forced to pay their back water bills estimated in the millions, just the poor.

Governor Snyder is the worst of the worst. He never was a “moderate” as the MSM likes to pretend and we here have always known that. He’s just as extreme as the rest of the GOP bunch.

Who’s going to pay to replace all the infrastructure? I’ll bet Snyder will ask the feds. Asshole.

And of course stupid Debbie Wasserman Schultz will fail to make this, and other GOP malfeasance and incompetence nationwide, a campaign issue.

But what about Federal tyranny and states rights? What oh what is the Governor to do? I suggest he go to Flint and drink the water. Lots of water.

The Repubs won’t learn that, the state Repubs were actually saved tax dollars, they are the ones that vote for him. It the rest of us that pick up the tab for this awful behavior.

too bad he didn’t authorize that the governor and his city manager stooge be taken into custody for deliberately poisoning the citizens of flint…

snyder will be dealing with the fallout from the lawsuits that will be filed for the rest of his miserable life.

As a taxpayer, I don’t mind my money going toward natural disaster relief, and I certainly don’t mind helping with the immediate needs of the screwed-over people of Flint. But it irritates me to no end that I’m helping to pay for Snyder’s should-be-a-crime fuck up (ETA: and cover up, of course).

Snyder better see the inside of a jail for this one. I cannot imagine how his actions here, especially hiding the fact that there was lead in the water, won’t lead to criminal charges in any halfway decent legal system.

At the very least he needs to be impeached/removed. Can that be done in MI?

In Snyder’s Michigan, he is protected by a law that shields him and his staff, the legislators and their staff, from FOIA requests that would expose his dirty dealings. We are the only one I believe in the entire US that goes that far in shielding an executive and lawmakers from exposure to the truth regarding their actions. We are ranked 50th, last, in Ethics and Transparency in Government on a list compiled by The Center for Public Integrity.

This is what trickle-down economics gets you…No accountability and no fucking healthy water to drink or bathe in…and especially if you’re black because to paraphrase Kanye, “Rick Snyder doesn’t care about Black people”.

Well, this latest by Snyder and the tea party boobs in the legislature won’t kill anyone, maybe just the rights of Michigan residents:

LANSING, MI – Gov. Rick Snyder on Wednesday signed a bill that prohibits public bodies from distributing information on ballot proposals 60 days before an election, something local governments have said could prevent them from explaining important issues to citizens.

…

Senate Bill 571 passed in a late-night session in December. An amendment House and Senate leadership said was mostly technical took it from 12 pages to 53 pages that night, and some representatives have said they did not know what they were voting on.

Language added to SB 571:

Adds a provision barring public bodies from using public funds to distribute information about a local ballot proposal 60 days before it appears on the ballot.
Eliminates a February filing deadline for independent and political committees.
Requires political and independent committees to file annual reports.
Clarifies that robocalls have to identify who is paying for the call and some contact information, but do not have to use a disclaimer (the words "authorized by" or "not authorized by.")
Allows candidates to use contributions to pay down debts from previous election cycles.

What a freaking disaster. Our pal, Dick DeVos thinks it’s hunky dory, which tells you all you need to know.
