Discussion: Obama Blames Immigration Executive Action Delay On Border Crisis (VIDEO)

i wish todd success, however I watched a little of his show and I was left with - where is the beef. this guy talks polls and optics - who cares. where is the tough questioning of leaders regarding issues of crony capitalism and updating America’s infrastructure

Throwing a red-faced foot-stomping tantrum because immigration reform is not happening NOW NOW NOW!!! is stupid and counterproductive. The man is obviously committed to immigration reform, even if a good chunk of Democrats aren’t. Demanding that he knee-cap vulnerable Democrats that he is going to need in Congress, and going to need a majority in Congress, to accomplish reform is just immature and unwise. He obviously would have done reform if he had the magic wand that advocates imagine he has. Give the man some room to work.

Let’s see these children turn out the midterm vote. That will force the issue like nothing else will.

Riddle me this. 39% of Texas is Latino, why is Texas solid red? Same reason that Ferguson city government is solid white. Get your ass to the polls, and never vote for a Republican.

Yeah like you’re an expert

Yeah, he says all those things. The difference is that the press doesn’t treat him like a celebrity the way they treated GWB, re-trumpeting his every word.

Obama says everything Joe Liberal wants to hear.
The media ignore it.
Joe Liberal gets upset with Obama because he’s not hearing the things he wants to hear.
He comes up with a good zinger about community organizing and posts it to an internet comment thread where there is a zero percent chance Obama will see it.

The cycle repeats, endlessly. It’s the darndest thing.

Once again I am reminded why I love this President. Such a reasoned and brilliant man. He does not jump because of pressure.

It would help if people just bypassed the press and listened to the real thing. But everyone wants to piss and moan, more fun I guess, than sitting through a press conference. Plus, it would hurt the journos feelings! What’s not to like?

He did, he postponed his decision because he believes that it is the right thing to do. He isn’t caving to the Republican bitching that you mention because it never stops and it is a tactic that they use no matter which way the Prez goes or even when he does what they are supposedly for. There is no countering right wing talking points in other words because they just switch on the fly.

You are asking the President to react to a tactic taken by hateful, disingenuous failures. If he did, you would likely complain about that also.

Have faith amigo, President Obama is worthy of it.

Immigration and pipeline don’t even sound the same, where are you getting so mixed up?

Try to at least obfuscate on the right subject, huh.

Basically I am saying Obama is a gutless man. When things he get tough he pushes the issue back and back. The pipeline is similar to immgration because Obama states he will make a decision and then never does.

You may use the word “gutless” if you wish. However, most of us see that caution as essential - especially after we saw what happened to the US (with horrific ramifications throughout the globe) from the “decisive” (act first, think later) presidency of George Bush.

What part of Obama gets things right don’t people understand? He doesn’t have to constantly reprove himself.
Chuck Todd isn’t holding the President’s feet to the fire, he is being extremely rude in his constant doubt and veiled accusations. If anyone is in doubt, it’s Mr. - I Don’t Have To Actually Do Journalism-Just Repeat Verbatim What I’m Told- Todd. He disgusts me.

President Obama has done so much and I truly appreciate it especially because his opposition is so relentless. He has risen above the meanness and succeeded more than most anyone realizes. In the big picture, I am with President Obama 100%.

Well said, marby.
I’ll take gutless over rash, volatile, uninformed decisiveness any day.
TheMiddleMan is of course welcome to his opinion, and if he’s motivated by a desire to see progress in this country that improves our lives, then all the better. It’s always okay to expect more from your politicians. But “gutless”? Damn. What does that make me, then? Because I don’t know that I would ever have the courage to face what he has faced and continues to face on a daily basis.

Yep. Chuck is a one-trick-pony, for sure.

Your comments are right on. I just saw Candy Crowley (CNN) give Newt Gingrich the floor to sum up all of the policy failures of the Obama administration - no challenges or questions to allow for other points of view. Newt isn’t an elected official, or cabinet member, or even a figure who garners wide public support. He is a former Speaker who was forced to leave in disgrace - but he gets those right-wing talking points out there, so I guess it’s okay.

Just make it clear that you would rather not act with an executive order. That you would rather Congress do their job, and pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill. Then make it clear that you are hopeful after the midterms, there will be a congress more willing to work towards that goal, and if there isn’t, then will be the time for executive action.

So far TPM headings has Obama being being bashed twice, grilled once and slammed.
Who is starting to think msm interaction with the POTUS is political equivalence of violent
comic book illustrations?

Come on Pres, interview with chuckles? Really?

Why?

You do know what MTP means?? Meet the (right-wing) pricks!!

You are better then that!

NO chuckles, the question YOU need to be asking is…why can’t the gop/bag congress do THEIR job? So that the POTUS wouldn’t need to go it alone ALL THE TIME!!

Now, THAT’S the question you need to ask!!

But, I won’t be holding my breath!

MiddleMan,

You can call Obama “gutless” all day everyday and it still doesn’t change a damn thing.

Immigration reformers should have brought Hispanics to the polls in DROVES in 2010 and should be doing so now in 2014. Otherwise, they are not only gutless but incompetent.

Laws get made and repealed in CONGRESS, not the presidency and not the courts. Even if Obama used an executive action, that would promptly get repealed or scaled back by the next president, Republican or Democrat who found in politically inconvenient.

The game is in Congress. Anyone who is wasting their time trying to convince a president who already agrees with them is running in circles like a dog chasing its tail. Try keeping the Senate and making a dent in the House. Everything else is just plain whining.

I understand they are now waiting for the Nebraska court decision before announcing anything on the pipeline. My hunch is that Obama/John Kerry will approve the pipeline right after the election. They will wait until after the election because the pipeline will be approved much to the chagrin of those fighting it. It will be approved just like he will allow all the illegal immigrants to stay.
