Discussion: Obama Approves Deployment Of Additional 250 Troops To Syria

But, but, but … how is that possible? Hillary the Warmonger isn’t in the administration anymore, so how could they be doing war things? Hillary the Warmonger was 100% to blame for Iraq, ISIL, Libya, Syria and everything else kerflunked in the world!

It couldn’t be that she was just an advisor in the Obama administration, and Obama was the one making the decisions in his own administration? Nah, it’s all Hillary.

Obama - such a good Republican tool.

And Hillary and Bill give him a standing ovation for the mission creep in Syria with no congressional approval (as required by the US Constitution).

Germany is stepping up finally and doing what is needed for the Syrian people…instead of Syrians having to flee their nation and trying to resettle in strange and different cultures all around the world, Merkel’s administration has decided to establish safe zones with humanitarian aid for the displaced Syrian refugees in Syria. This is what the world needs to get behind (instead of more and more bombs) and once the civil war is resolved, the Syrians will want to return to their homeland…Vs living in the slums of big cities in Europe and the US.

Nah, it’s Obama late to the decision making process as usual. Let’s see… Marines back in Iraq, still bombing in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya and now Syria.

Countries bombed: Obama 7, Bush 4.
Obama: Twice as many strikes on Muslim countries
Obama: 3X more use than Bush of Special Forces

That’s our Nobel Prize winner anti-war president! You go Obama!

But this will create problems for Hillary. I mean, armed and ready, full of authority but no countries left to bomb! What’s a girl to do?

Boo hisss, make pulling the us out of that area of the country the last great thing you do Obama…please?

And if we only give peeeace a channnce everyone will be full of joy and love for thy neighbor!

Well, there’s always Iran, North Korea, and if we try hard enough, I’ll be we could get involved in Mexico’s drug war! And Canada–don’t forget them! Curling? I mean seriously? That alone should be worth a few airstrikes!

I have to admit that when I hear what ISIS is doing I want them exterminated. The Administration has acted (and is acting) judiciously as far as I’m concerned. I think I would have sent in troops on a massive scale to Syria and Libya and got us into worse trouble. I have no problem with drone warfare of clandestine operations, congressional approval or not. This is what I wanted after 9/11 … to see stories of dead terrorists appear across the globe after having been killed by mysterious assailants. Instead we invaded a country that was effectively clean of terrorist cells and made it an enormous terrorist haven.

“The Administration has acted (and is acting) judiciously as far as I’m concerned.”

Stay with that thought neal. But could you tell me what you base that on? I mean aside from just being mad.

You leave some small differences between Bush and Obama:

Countries invaded: 2
Countries invaded that posed no threat and committed no crime: 1

Obama has not been to my liking militarily, but I think he compares well to Bush in no small manner because Bush’s invasions and completely incompetent execution (Abandoning Tora Bora to plan for Iraq? Baath members banned from any jobs? Really?) created the situation and there really are no good solutions.

Has Obama done well? No. Could anyone? Not sure. They could bomb less, though, and stop with the civilian deaths.

So, yeah, I’m conflicted.

I agree, and I think everyone does, that a massive invasion was a huge mistake.

I think we should have followed the example of targeted strikes by special forces, such as the one we conducted to take out bin Laden.

We might have been able to take out Al Qaida without destabilizing the region, alienating our allies, and creating such blowback.

Told you I would have invaded in force, anything less than what a wacko like me would do is judicious in my view. The drone stuff? It’s the mathematics of misery. If the collateral damage is less than what these swine would commit then it’s justified. Besides, it’s a recognition of Arab culture … they accept paying for lives lost and as long as we do that it’s justifiable.

“it’s a recognition of Arab culture … they accept paying for lives lost and as long as we do that it’s justifiable.”

Didn’t know you were so well-versed in Arab culture neal.

I ain’t but I can read just as well as you can. Heard of Honor Killings? I take people the way they are … not the way I wish them to be.

Reading isn’t your problem neal. It’s thinking you have trouble with and unfortunately, in your case, it’s called stoopid and it’s incureable

Guilty as charged, I am pig ignorant. I am the perfect LCD (lowest common denominator). If I can understand something, ANYONE can. I do take issue that stupid is incurable, it’s very curable. Did you take issue with Drone Attacks (that I support) or Honor Killings (which I do not support). The Muslim world is not Minnesota and the people there are not Lutherans, Methodists or Presbyterians.

Every time I see a Muslim on TV I fear for them because if they say the wrong thing their lives will be in danger. That’s a fact of life … I don’t like it but it is beyond my control.

Just make sure you have plenty of ammo ‘cause they’re comin’ to get you neal!
