This election is the death rattle for the old guard. Demography is destiny. The country is changing and there is nothing Fox News or the Republican Establishment can do about it.

What is he even talking about? The Democrats lost two seats (and control of the Senate) in 1952, gained two seats in 1954 (and control of the Senate). No seat change at all in 1956, and in 1958 there was a Dem landslide with +15. Those were the Eisenhower years in terms of Senate elections.
What the heck does the President mean by this comparison?
