Discussion: NYT Misidentifies 2 Syrian Cities In Piece On Gary Johnson’s ‘Aleppo’ Gaffe

They could still get at least one item correct today and run an article about Trump’s pre-war objections to all the various Mideast/Asia wars we’re involved in.

Gotta love it when the sanctimonious ‘media’ plays ‘gotcha’ and totally screws up. I was thinking t hat this morning when Morning Joe’s panel was just ‘horrified’ about the gaffe…They could of just said ‘Syria’ when Johnson asked. The cringe worthy part of Johnson was the flip tone of ‘what’s an aleppo’…

Evidently its more than just a love song.

To be fair, it’s hard to read a map under so many clouds and shadows.

So sad that dementia has set in on the old grey lady.

Employing Judith Miller earns you a lot of negative karma.

Look, it’s fine. I didn’t know where Aleppo was either.
The gray lady is imperfect but still admits (these types of) errors in plain sight.

Corrections are for libruls. When is the last time Fox News ever issued a correction? NEVER.

Yeah, but you aren’t running for President. (Presumably). And Fox news believes that the truth is created when they report it, so there is never a need for a correction or retraction.

Think that’s bad? How about this? They put up a piece that pretty accurately described what happened, then deleted the entire story and replaced it with another (relatively speaking) Trump tongue-bath by, who else? Patrick Healy?

Was there an editor’s note explaining this rather Orwellian retconning? No, of course not.

Yet another thing for the new public editor to pretend to be concerned about.

Is there any reason for the US not to just let Russia take over in Syria and make them deal with the Islamic radicals like they did in Afghanistan for nearly a decade before it bankrupted the Soviet Union? It would be a fitting punishment for Putin after his taking Crimea by force and invading Ukraine.

No matter how long we stay in the Middle East, nobody including the media ever seems to understand where anything is or care about the refugees…besides Merkel.

The never are right to begin with.

the apple cart theorem comes to mind. It would be easy for the US to let Russia handle all of the responsibility in regards to Syria, but chances are the US will be back in that area within a short time period.

as usual, the reason will either be on account of Lebanon or Israel.

Oh how you flatter me so!
