Discussion: NYT: Clashes Within Trump Admin Ensue As Border Separation Policy Draws Ire

Could not agree more
I have given up trying to "understand " the base
Fuckers really do need reeducation camps to deprogram the Faux News brainwashing

Well, it’s a question of the general versus the particular. Franklin Graham is an opinion leader deeply embedded in Trump’s base. If he opposes this policy that actually matters quite a bit. We haven’t seen a lot of people saying “Hey, you crossed a line” during this era, but we’re seeing it now.

When do we start ignoring and stop fearing that base which shrinks every day as they wake up to the reality he’s out to destroy them, their livelihoods and every other dream they thought was going to be fulfilled once he occupied the WH.

And it would really make this place better and smarter If we all stopped giving a shit about them. They are completely irrelevant to what we want to achieve

Word.

I recall one thing Josh put in his editorial right after the election - we need always to remember that he was “elected” by a Minority. They are a minority. We do not need them.

Oh: and another “brink of resignation”. Eff that. If you’re really against this, refuse to implement it and take the firing.

You’re right, but perhaps it matters if Graham is willing to force or convince Trump to end this evil.

In the unlikely event that Graham does so, I will still happily oppose him with you afterwards.

There are suggestions within this editorial on how to formally register our objections to this policy. We call Congress for one. Please. Don’t anyone say they won’t listen.

Call Congress. Find out who represents you in Washington, and let them know you want the practice of family separation to end. Ask them to support bills that will help reunited children already taken from their parents and also prohibit future removals. Those include the Senate’s HELP Separated Children Act and Keep Families Together Act. The American Civil Liberties Union offers a script for calling the Senate, though we suspect most callers will be able to find the right words themselves.

Trump knows he is really looking bad on this one. Even he doesn’t want to be seen as cruel to children. Amazing that other members of his administration don’t care.

Do not underestimate the power Stephen Miller has in this WH where even Kelly looks sidelined.

He IS the WH

We’ve disagreed about this before, I’m sure, but given the Constitution we have, a minority can and does control the country.

They are preparing “special places in hell” for Mr Trump, Mr Sessions, Mr Miller and the others responsible for doing this.

I am not afraid of the base but we ignore the numbers at our peril.

The GOP fractures when the support numbers drop. I don’t know that number, but support is not coming down below 40%. Yet. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’d love to be wrong.

Family unity matters to a big chunk of the GOP base.

The D’s need a nationwide strategy to exploit this during the midterms campaign.

You don’t mind my skepticism, I hope.

This one requires more than the usual “fuck Trump” and “vote them out.” These are crimes against humanity. We will ultimately need Nuremberg type trials for Trump, Sessions, Miller and everyone else involved.

She’s been weeping for a long time.

It did not begin in 2017.

Yeah and the Majority is sick of it.

This whole situation has me beyond upset. I woke up 3 times last night thinking of this horror. I can’t handle child abuse in any form and try to avoid reading about it, seeing reports on TV etc but can not avoid this. Trump and his party need to be made examples of.
