So who or what was the buyer of 250 million gallons of jet fuel? I can’t see Keene et al going through this trouble unless there’s a real buyer with real money. Why specifically buy from russia? Is (was) the buyer located on a fuel pipeline connected to russian refineries?

As an undergrad I doubled in Math and Biology. I have a Master’s and Ph.D. in Statistics.
And, yeah – I’m clearly a slacker.

Yes, I use it every day. At the time I completed my doctorate, the demand outstripped the supply by quite a bit. I spent 30 years on university faculties (3 years at one school, 27 at the other). I now design and analyze medical device trials.
I’m fortunate that I don’t have a career that puts a lot of wear and tear on my body. I will probably work until I’m tired of it or I can’t do it anymore. The work is interesting (for now), and useful, and my colleagues tell me I’m good at it. I don’t see a reason to quit.
