Discussion: NYT: Adelson Might Spend As Much As $100 Million Supporting Trump

“… $100 million to support Donald Trump’s bid for the White House, according to a New York Times report, while pulling back his funding for down-the-ballot races and other Republican efforts.”

Perfect. That plan will work out just great. For Dems.

“If Republicans do not come together in support of Trump, Obama will essentially be granted something the Constitution does not allow — a third term in the name of Hillary Clinton,” Adelson said.

Great. I knew Repugs’ fantasy Obama extra-Constitution excess and imagined tyranny would find its way into an election he does not even take part.

I guess Donald must have told him how much he loves Israel during their closed door meeting. I’m just a bit surprised a billionaire would be so gullible.

So, they will attempt to see if, with a near infinite amount of money, one can fool just enough of the people for just a long enough period of time to capture an election by “just enough”.

I like how he ties Obama with Clinton in the last sentence, that’s cute.

And, isn’t Trump rich enough to float his own boat?

Someone needs to ask him about this very serious matter.

Is the dent in Adleson’s forehead where his soul was sucked out?

This one is interesting. Adelson is a huge Israel hawk and Netanyahu ally. Even with Sec. Clinton’s association with President Obama, I’d bet the mortgage her policies would be much more supportive of Israel than would Trump’s. I guess low tax rates beat even Israel.

Regardless of what you think of him politically, what would a successful businessman like Adelson see in a four-flusher like Trump?

OK, I don’t get it.

Trump, the Billionaire, won’t put up his own money, but Addleson, the Billionaire, is putting up $100 million for Trump. Doesn’t that imply that Trump doesn’t HAVE $100 million? Doesn’t that mean he’s really Drumpf, the Short-Fingered Vulgarian Millionaire?

Heh—you know perfectly well Trump’s pretend rich—he plays a rich person on TV. He couldn’t fund a billion-dollar campaign any more than I could. Adelson is actually rich.

Probably, but also keep in mind that Trump owned/owns property in Atlantic City. Adelson is giving money to a fellow casino owner and chance-monger, who - and I’m sure Trump stressed this in their meeting - understands his business needs.

I missed the reference to Hillary Clinton in the Constitution.

In that respect, he’s a kindred spirit to Sanders.
