Yep, paid vacation time, right before they do nothing at all.

Dude should’ve been fired. No questions asked. Terror investigation unit my ass. HE is one of the people terrorizing New Yorkers.

I just watched the video. Good grief.

I’m glad those guys were in the backseat advising him to keep quiet except for “Yes, sir, no, sir.” He needed the support, poor guy.

Yes, this cop sure didn’t do the NYPD any favors.

Indeed. And in another context Bratton apologizing, instead of the cop, is called “enabling”.

When cops use profanity professionalism is not in question. There is none.

Benched?! The bastard ought to be FIRED (out of a cannon into a wall) for misconduct and reprehensibly unprofessional behavior. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for what he did. He’s a racist piece of shit who has no place in public service.

This is a good start to the process.

Now NYPD and Bratton need to follow through and get rid of this disgraceful officer.

Bratton also added that the actions of the officer, who who was reportedly identified earlier in the day as Detective Patrick Cherry, made the relationship between civilians and police officers more difficult, according to WNBC.

Well, so much for the (paid?) trolls from yesterday trying to spread around that he wasn’t even a real cop in the first place!

My father, who used to be a cop, said “That guy should get two weeks in the hay,” which means he doesn’t come to work for two weeks and he doesn’t get paid.

I went back to check on that. bluestatedon made a couple of comments wondering if he could be a guard or something, but bluestatedon’s been around here an awfully long time. I just got the sense that there was some initial confusion about identity, not that don was shilling for the NYPD. I know I’m sticking my nose in here, but you are both valued commenters. Of course, we know NYPD has not been above shilling for themselves on wikipedia, etc.

It won’t cure what ails him.

Guy has anger issues. He needs a nice padded room and soft music.

I don’t believe he really cared what the cop did with his hatred but it WOULD go a long way into making him stop bringing hi problems to work…

Here is what i found on a news site:

A police association leader defended Cherry, who before the incident
had just visited a fellow detective in the hospital who was suffering
from cardiac arrest.
“The past five days have been emotionally draining for the members of
the JTTF dealing with their fellow detective’s health,” Michael
Palladino, president of the Detectives Endowment Association, told the Daily News. “Despite what some people think, cops have feelings, too.”

So there you have it. This is actually a case of that driver not being sensitive to the feelings of the cop. He’s had a rough five days. Many thanks to the Pigs Union for clearing that up. Some people think cops don’t have feelings! Hope you’re not one of those people, ASSHOLE.

No. He’s out of that unit. That’s a huge demotion. The Joint Terrorism Task Force is supercop stuff with feds on it as well. He just went from being hot shit to a nobody. Since he didn’t break a law that is one administrative move they could make. Very cool. I hope the mayor didn’t have to call Bratton about that but whatever way it happened it’s good news. In times past, a cop could commit a crime against a citizen and have nothing happen. Consumer board and internal affairs would do nothing.

I see a Cherry popping headline in future NY newspapers.

it’s damage control until the media attention goes away… watch him ‘retire’ early (pension!!) and then hook up with some security firm making twice what he made as nypd.

Once the investigation is done the officer will get a pay raise, a promotion, successfully sue the driver and passengers for defamation damages and a year or two down the road have his own lucrative Fox News panel gig and a book contract. Isn’t America grand!

You can bet this is not a first time for this asshole. Other than the first time he was caught stone cold on a video. This is a video demonstration of who this man is. It’s also a video demonstration of systematic, institutional disregard for the people of NYC by the NYPD. We all know this guy’s not alone and as more and more of these vids surface we have reason to believe his conduct is “normal” in the eyes of his colleagues and supervisors.

If this is to be stopped…the moral consideration…the American consideration…you burn this guy like he’s burned hundreds of immigrants in the past. The difference being you burn him for what he did not who he is.

Burn him. Care not about his “retirement” or anything else. Burn him…and burn him hard. It’s what the MILLIONS of folks in NYC deserve.

OK…but when has a ever considered a person “emotional condition” when they busted them? Speeding because your wife is in labor…pay the ticket asshole. Smack a guy in bar for calling your wife a cunt…go to jail. “tell it to the Judge” is what you get.

Fuck him and his “emotions” too. If he can’t get on top of his emotions he needs to get a job in the Zoo. His inability to “act right” is not an excuse…its a reason to can his ass.
