Discussion: NYPD: No 'Specific' Threat To NYC After Times Square Appears In Islamic State Video

Discussion for article #243002

Ugh Chris Matthews is already hyperventilating about this. I wish these fucking chicken hawks would stop soiling themselves so easily. We seemed to get over the horrendous attacks of 9/11 here in NY better than the he-man tough guys of the right-wing did in East Bumfuck, Alabammy.

I remember going out to bars and restaurants here in Manhattan a week or so after 9/11 while on TV we were watching yokels in Mississippi wrapping their houses in saran wrap because they were afraid of anthrax attacks.

In France, they are going out to cafes and nightlife as a show of defiance against the terrorists, while our right-wing is pissing their pants in fear. “They are coming for us,” Chris Christie was quoted as saying today.

Fucking pathetic.

You said it. The only thing to fear is fear itself, said FDR. The GOP would not exist without fear mongering and crisis creation. They are our own home grown terrorists, seeking to create terror to empower themselves artificially. The nation should pay no attention to those (GOP) men behind the curtain!

While this is a serious issue, I couldn’t help imagining the NYPD coming across a bomber unconscious in an alley after being mugged and having his wallet stolen. Anti-terrorism indeed.

I’m glad New Yorkers have more intestinal fortitude than the asshats who seek to be Commander in Chief.

That started at the top. From day one, Oedipus Tex and President Cheney went in hiding at a “secret location,” every time there was the slightest danger. Contrast that with the French President and British PM.

I guess ISIS figured that no “specific threat” is even necessary. After all, they don’t want to give Christie and his fellow GOP pantswetters full-on heart attacks… the Kowardly Klown Kar Klan is just far too useful to ISIS.

Meanwhile that blatant racist Giuliani is claiming ISIS is Obama’s fault since he pulled troops out of Iraq! Seriously? It was Shrub who decided to pull the troops! Now let’s how many of the Sunday talk shows run with Rudy’s lie.

Why do they keep helping wackjobs? Why do they continue to hurt America? Why do they stubbornly refuse to learn from the past, even from the very recent past? Why?

We could explain the reasons, maybe by citing some articles, academic research, etc. We can certainly understand the reasons at an intellectual level. But the Why’s are still there. And persistently.

Sorry for the rant. I am mad. Really mad at the power of stupidity.

Yup, fellow New Yorker here, and I have the same memories. I also remember, some time later, when the tourists started coming downtown; at a certain point those visits mutated from solemn, respectful observation to something like a trip to a Disneyesque PatriotWorld, with so many of those yokels treating it like a USA! pep rally. Then the 2004 GOP convention came in to claim their rightful ownership of the event from the multiculti libtards who just happen to live here and actually experienced it. It all almost literally made me sick. This evening’s breathless treatment of that video (not, thank heaven, by MSNBC’s prime-time folks, or the city’s own leaders) brought back some of that sick feeling.
