This needed to be said. And should be repeated over and over and over again.
Another two great minds moment. This is the man who said heâd risk going to jail for releasing trump tax information the Times received a few months ago from anonymous, and heâs why trumpet wants tough libel laws.
@itsjibba Exactly, right on and fuckinâ A. Weâre all a little stupider for paying as much attention as we do to half-hour programming consisting of 23-minutes of ânewsâ, and donât get me started about the Sunday morning gas bag fests.
Although the Times has its good moments, itâs far from blame-free. But baby steps.
(And yes, even a newspaper editor should have some standards for opposing a candidacy.)
I have mixed reactions to Mr. Baquetâs comments. First, I do agree that CNNâs and FOXâs coverage of this campaign has been bad for America. True, FOX is absolutely not a journalistic institution, but Baquetâs praise of Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace as âgreat journalistsâ is hyperbole ⌠at best. Additionally, the NYT is not without its own issues with regards to its very mixed coverage of Hillary Clinton and anything Clinton. NYT has been very sensationalist and spreading a bunch of unsubstantiated lies about the Clintons over the years â and as recently as this year, so your own hands need a good washing, Mr. Baquet. Thank you.
I would say this should shame both CNN and Fox, but Fox has never had any shame and CNN lost itâs when it started chasing White Broncos 24/7
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! It needs to be repeated over and over. Calling someone out for making stuff up is not being âunfairâ to one candidate. Itâs because a certain candidate does not exist in reality and the American people need to KNOW that. We can do the apples to apples BS when they are taking about ISSUES or POLICY.
If only someone really funny had made this point extremely well about 12 years ago. Then we wouldnât be in this mess where Fox enables trumpf and trumpf enables chaos and violence.
My bitter sarcasm aside, I really miss Jon Stewart. I guess Oliver, Bee and Maher will have to do.
You know what else is bad for democracy, Mr. NYT Editor? A $200 annual digital subscriptionâŚ
Agreed, I donât understand why Wallace gets good marks for his debate. His choice of subject matter was awful and reflected a Fox News worldview. Worse, his mention of Bill Clinton sex scandals was inexcusable. He should not be doing Trumpâs dirty work for him.
Megyn Kelly is no journalist either, but I can respect her as an honest conservative editorialist.
If youâre getting your news on television, youâre not getting your news.
I donât invite hysterical, hyperbolic liars into my home, for any reason. Same goes for anyone that tries to convince me the racist, misogynistic perv down the street is really a good guy once you get to know him, and his presence benefits the neighborhood. So, why would I invite CNN into my living room?
Too little too late
Faux Derangement Syndrome is pervasive.
Within a minute of talking to someone it is apparrent and itâs been going on for years.
In 2008 I had a CPA boss , obviously well educated caution me about Obama
âYou should watch him He pals around with terroristsâ
Only one place that comes from.
Now itâs Anti Hillary all the time 7/24
Quick run the BENGHAZI! mission burning, itâs been 20 minutes
Emails! look at the Emails!
It is pretty hard to counteract the Conservative Entertainment Complex where facts dare not speak their name
Itâs good that this is being said before a national audience, but my question is: What took so fucking long?
And the NYT Clinton hunting and fake war coverage of Iraq is good for democracy?
Excellent. After being annoyed at the Times for some of its less than credible coverage earlier - e.g. the dark-and-stormy-night articles on Clinton, the disastrous defense by the public editor of false equivalence - I think they have taken observations about their shortcomings to heart, and tried to do the right thing.
Two words for you, Mr. Editor: Maureen Dowd.
When you clean up that mess in aisle 8, get back to us.
I think that Baquet is the kind of journalist and person that feels the need to offset strong criticism with a few positive remarks. Much like Mrs Von Holst when, after having read me the riot act for being an all around layabout and retired redundant and not keeping up with the household chores, tells me that Iâm so good to take her car to the shop to get the oil changed.
Times is highly supportive of Clinton, has endorsed her in a very long editorial recently and at the same times go to great lengths to condemn trump. FWIW I consider myself fairly well informed, and Iâve reading the Times and other papers since I was a kid. Thereâs art coverage, books, science, sports, tech oh shit itâs a newspaper. It carries news.
