I must confess Lindsey Graham saying âjackassâ made coffee go up my noseâŚ
Why isnât Dick Cheney on the cover too?
But the way the Southern StrategyâŚor the entire Nothingâs Sacred StrategyâŚis suppose to work is that you use coded words to get your point across. Well, the GOPâs hit the point where the base are tired of code words and want plain spoken racism.
I was mostly thinking about the military service issue, but really, itâs just about all of it.
So now itâs OK for a war avoider to disrespect war servers. Only a very pure which is to say totally amoral Republican could make that quantum jump.
According to GOP dogma, and as a matter of Republican faith, war is good business. Disabled Veterans who get care for their wounds are not good for business and should have just fucking ducked* according to GOP dogma and matters of Republican faith. But up to now GOP support for troops so as to keep a goodly supply of machine gun fodder on hand for the hundred inevitable next wars was a constant.
Once upon a time there was a rooty toot toot in a soldier suit; we march on the lawn and our guns donât shoot. HIs statements have fully POâd a lot of truly heroic men and women who did step up and soldier. Trump has no idea what the verb âto soldierâ means, but he doesnât hesitate to remind them that he is the Trump, and they are the Chump.
Veterans sigh to remember that their service protected the First Amendment rights of jerks such as Trump too. But still dumping on the military would not
overall seem like a good thing for business.
- Ducked as in Cheney, Limbaugh, Trump, & etc., ducked the whole damn war rather than any actual bullets.
Front page. No problem here.
And yet, paradoxically, he claims everyone loves him and heâs more popular than EVAH!!!
The point of the strategy is to make whites feel like there is someone worse off than them, and that the GOP is the party to ensure thatâs true. In the past dog whistles have been used, as some sort of cover in case they could garner a few minority votes along the way, but increasingly over the past 30 years or so, as you pointed out, those dog whistles have become blatantly clear to everyone, while at the same time the political campaigns using them have arguably become less sophisticated (lets face it, Trump has never run for national office beforeâŚhe is a rookie at this). So they donât get the need for hiding it, and voilaâŚhere we are.
Out of 4?
Very true. Unfortunately, itâs lead to a scorched earth policy within the GOP where, as far as they are concerned, they would rather burn the nation to the ground than actually do anything which benefits Rich, White, Cis, Straight men. The big problem is that a lot of the white middle and lower classes which support the GOP donât realize that they are basically selling themselves down the river by supporting the GOP. They have not and continue not to understand that the GOP doesnât care about them at all.
I bet more than a few soldiers that stormed the beaches of Normandy has physical ailments and deformities far more serious than a bone spur of the foot. Trump came right out and said he âwasnât a fanâ of the Vietnam Conflict. He added that as an aside to addressing his medical deferment. Almost saying even lacking the medical issue, âHey, I wasnât going over there regardless.â
@RadicalCentrist, au contraire! Republicans en masse dissed Max Cleland and John Kerry. Remember how Republicans claimed Cleland had deliberately dropped that hand grenade which so grievously injured him? How they made fun of Kerryâs war wounds? Those claims were spouted loudly across all forms of media. No, Republicans are scum who care only that one of theirs is being subjected to same savage attacks they launched with seeming impunity in the past. Karmaâs a bitch.
Oh GAWWWWDâ⌠Hang on! You know whoâs just jumped in to defend The Donald? Howzâ boutâ McCainâs old ârunning mateââŚYup! Sarah âThe Half Baked Alaskanâ Palin! Oh yes she did! She just couldnât stand aside and fail to make a fool of herself.
ITâS A PARTY NOW!
Palin gives a lilâ nod to McCain as a hero and goes on to give equal footing to The Donald as a hero as well: "âŚDonald Trump is a hero in another arena. Trump is the candidate giving voice to untold millions of fed-up Americans witnessing a purposeful destruction of our economy and the equal opportunity for success that made America exceptional.â ] http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/20/politics/john-mccain-donald-trump-sarah-palin-hero/

My gawwwdâ McCainâŚwhat the hell were you thinking? Looks like your old gal pal equates the flak that Trump is getting from the media is worse than anything you endured in Vietnam!
Wheeewâ! GrandPaMacâs going to have a hard time pulling that knife out of his back, huh?
Hey McCain! Your wife and Donald Trump both have a lot of $$$$MONEY$$$$âŚand a grifterâs gonnaâ grift! She loves you both! ~bwwwahhahaaaaaaa!~
I donât know. I do know of one half-blind soldier who served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, first as a sniper instructor and then deployed to the Philippines. I also know of a Canadian soldier who got shot in the hand while storming Normandy Beach and rather than getting sent home despite losing his middle digit, he went into the Air Corps and continued to serve. That last one was actor Jimmy Doohan.
Itâs become his go-to MO using Twitter. Heâs also taken on the WSJ run by Murdoch, an emerging enemy. So many newspapers to trash, so few thumbs to do it with.
SCOTTY!
My Dad was in WWII. 140lbs, soaking wet, 2 bad feet (I can vouch for that!). They took him and sent him on a hiking and camping trip thru southern France/Germany. Grenade shrapnel in the arse. Back in the lines after a week.
Cannon fodder is cannon fodder. Anyone is/was eligibleâŚ
Emoticons depicting giggling 100 times.
Unless you check the âNot A Fan Of This Warâ box on your induction papers. Trump checked that box.
