That would be sweet justice.
The article mentioned that the federal information could/would be redacted. The state information would still be valuable and could provide some clues to the feds. It may even be the case that, since Trump did a lot of his criminal activity in New York state, he may be far more vulnerable on state charges than on federal ones. That said, I’m not a lawyer, so take my spit-balling for the little bit it’s worth, which is not a bucket of spit in most cases.
You may just want to bring a full set of cups next time. Line them all up in a row and down them one by one.
Perhaps none of the Supremes, not even Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, will want to bind themselves to iDJiT on this case. After all, they’ll all be in their offices long after iDJiT vacates his, and they’ll be working together for many years. If they want to be respected to any degree by their peers, they’ll have to make reasonable decisions in clear-cut cases like this one. This is not a legal issue that leaves wiggle room.

@esva
That is disappointing. There is always a catch!
But my guess the Fed info glosses over or sees the 20,000 ft view and the state may be much more granular on individual properties.
There are probably plenty of states, and countries Chump has victimized I wonder how many of them could find a reason to cough up some data.
One other point, since much of Chump’s legal wrangling appears to say it is a witch hunt, digging into personal details, fishing expeditions, politically motivated etc…it should be easy (if not legally potent) to say in front of judges…this is what any politician exposes themselves to. It is an unfortunate thing…to be so publicly exposed and examined. But necessary for voter confidence and good government. Everyone who stands for office goes through it.
For some reason this candidate eluded much of the oppo campaign and media scrutiny that every candidate receives upon dipping their toe into political waters. Especially a president. Perhaps it was only his band of enforcers, blackmailers, NDAs, and hush payments that kept much of this info under wraps until it was too late. He refused utterly to divulge the most mundane financial information before the election, did NOTHING to divest himself of his businesses, and flouts the Emoluments Clause. Then he promised he would produce his taxes to the American people, many times, on TV and campaign events.
Just how independent is SDNY, really?
All the district offices (each tied to a federal court) are under the main DOJ in D.C. is my understanding. I know SDNY has a tradition of independence but could Barr stomp on them if it came down to it? Honest question here. I know next to nothing about this.
Certainly the SDNY investigators would scream at the top of their lungs.
If there’s ever a majority of democrats in the senate again, it’s not clear they would be in office for that long after ruling for trump. At the very least, each of them would face hearings where they would be asked to explain themselves.
More like whisper to the NYTimes and WaPo, followed by subpoenas duces tecum from House Judiciary, revealing memoranda leading to impeachment and possible dis-Barr-ment. If the clown tries to do it without a paper trail, they’ll thumb their noses at him. Fire them and you’ve got obstructions of justice galore. This could be fun.
Call me an incorrigible optimist, but I’m still hoping for a private, um, suite at L’hôtel ADX Florence for his, uh, golden years…
I first heard the expression while reading a book titled Main Justice by authors Jim McGee and Brian Duffy (published 1996). I agree that Barr could stomp them down. It is clear that Trump did fire the US attorney there, Preet Bahrara, in order to attempt to squelch pending investigations into Russians, and himself and his family. My experience is that they tend to recruit the elite as AUSAs, and I say that in a non-value judgment way. Almost every AUSA I dealt with there had clerked in a Circuit Court and many I met had clerked on the US Supreme Court. But Ed Callahan, the head of the Sara Palin(and very ironically named) Truth Squad was a supervisor there. And my impression after the Giuliani-Kalstrom coup to influence the 2016 election 10 days before the election, is that the Modern GOP has deep sources in order to keep tabs on everything going on there.
Do they not realize that Donnie never pays his bills? Guessing it was a large retainer or the RNC has promised to fund… Fools
The bill requires the redaction of federal return information
Anyone know the significance of this, or why it was included? Congress is of course supposed to be able to get the federal information separately via the federal law, so it’s not as though they have no ability to see it, although I guess you could argue this request should be limited to specifically the state info since it’s what the state has jurisdiction over (I’m not clear exactly what federal return information is even referred to).
pluckyinky is thinking federal supreme court
