Students routinely get intoxicated and do stupid things. It doesn’t mix well with firearms, no matter who has them.
I have no idea if it was reasonable for the officer to shoot to kill, but I hope most campus police understand that it is very rare that a student being destructive and belligerent on a weekend night is a great enough danger to require a lethal response.

Eeeeeeh, I really need a little more information before making a judgment. Is this another case of the guy walking away from the officer’s itchy trigger finger?

I’m pretty sure that there is such a thing as a stun gun or taser and even shooting to disable, but noooooooooooooooo, the friggin gun psychos don’t get confirmed kills without the actual, you know, kill.
If this cop isn’t feeling remorse, then he needs to plug his heart back in, that was just a drunk 21 year old kid.

seems like a story that will have gun nuts trumpeting the success of their Arm The Good Guys strategy. but really, no drunk student needs to be shot if he’s swinging an axe around. imagine how they might have talked him down if that had been their only option…
