Discussion for article #236282
Anyone with half a brain listening to the first few minutes of the DAs conference knew this was going to happen Mr Robinson being “over” 6ft tall, which was strange to say the least, and that was only the beginning, also bringing Marti Luther King, and the DA sweating profusely from the outset.
It’s gotta be hard to do your job without sweating when a large number of people have already done your job for you in deciding guilt based on seeing essentially none of the evidence and assumptions based entirely on emotions. This new “justice-system” based on riots, disruptive protests and media-fueled outrage is nonsense and hurts the credibility of the real justice system in cases where there is actually unlawful use of deadly force (of which we have admittedly seen far too much recently).
Right. Let’s go back to the good old days when weenies and would be Grand Dragons–without sheets–could kill at will. That was justice.
Good cops better stand up soon or become part of the blue social disease.
Or better yet, young black men hopped up on drugs shouldn’t attack armed police officers, which is what happened in this case.
Like Eric Garner, for example.
I know there are space constraints for headlines, but how about “Cop shoots 19 year old who assaulted two people, assaulted a cop, and had previously been convicted of an armed home invasion”
Additionally, there are lots of photos of the scene and cop, including the cop with cuts on face, HEAD, hands, arms, etc. And a stairwell where he was assaulted with fresh holes in the wall from the fight before any shooting even took place. Not included in this piece for some reason? The guy assaults people, is obviously dangerous, and he runs into an apartment building. Officer has every duty to chase this asshole and bust him.
If we want to get rid of bad cops, and that’s a great idea, let’s stop bothering good cops. This kid was a POS who did an armed home invasion, and was justifiably shot because he attacked a cop and hit him in the head.
Where did you get the thing about “armed home invasion”? I have not seen that. The local newspaper reported nothing along those lines.
Never mind, I just saw that on the smoking gun, though I don’t understand why he would be given probation for an “armed home invasion” – there must be more to this story.
I posted the link. It was December of 2014. And since he had just assaulted (I read it was called in as an assault on two people) two people in this instance, and ran into an apartment building, I’d say the cops duty is to chase him down because he might attack someone in the apartment. Plus they struggled for a bit based on the cops injuries, so I’d say he did not shoot until he had to.
You saw that he was given probation, right? Does that fit with armed home invasion? Something is not right here.
Yes, he was allowed to plead guilty to armed robbery and got off way too easy. I’m fed up with that. Kids who deal weed get more time than violent criminals. That’s just plain f**ked up. Stop locking up people for weed, and lock violent people up. Just reading this guys social media posts is disgusting.
I don’t find them disgusting. I find them sad. “I hate my mind . . . my soul is dying.” That’s a tortured young man. I mean, was a tortured young man. I prefer to react with concern than with anger – thinking about ways to change the perceptions that some people have from the moment they’re born that their life means nothing. But we don’t have to worry about Mister Robinson any more. He ate some mushrooms (I’ve done it myself a few times), acted stupidly and had his life snuffed out. Well, if you’re gonna eat mushrooms, you better be ready to have a cop shoot you.
Do you have any idea how our system of justice is supposed to work?
There is a principle called “innocent until proven guilty in a court of law”.
You and your killer cops are unAmerican. Go back to wherever you came from. You don’t belong here.
So why do you liberals not apply to the police? This officer acted in the law and was attacked by a felon. The officer defended himself What is Unamerican is liberals supporting criminals. Bring back the old system to 1830 in which criminals like gang members were sentenced to death and publicly executed. There was no need for long term incarceration since repeat offenders were put to death promptly.
Liberal judges don’t want violent blacks to be locked up. Hence why those that violent bail are giving bail again instead of being sent to jail until trial. Also time served is bullshit.
Black criminals whenever they do rapes and murders tend to be given probation by liberal judges who always seem in interviews when the criminal does another crime.
If a child breaks something and you give him a candy guess what the child does? He breaks another thng. Criminals when they are not hit with the rod of correction tend to keep committing crimes because they don’t see being put in jail and bonded out or allowed to plead and be put on probation as punishment but as incentive to do more crimes.
Except autopsy shows Garner resisted a legal takedown move and suffered a heart attack.
The decision to not charge the police officer was by his black superiors.
Eric Garner had a record a mile long but like all criminals refuses to accept that he is a criminal hence the outrage when they get arrested.
Then try him and he will be judged innocent or guilty of killing this person, just like anyone else. But don’t just let him off because he’s a cop and expect us to salute. Cops are supposed to have professional standards and yes, being a representative of the law is a responsibility and a privilege that involves some risk. It’s not hard to respect those cops. These new thugs and killers, on the other hand, shoot first and ask questions (or plant evidence) later. They are devolving into organized criminals. I respect the cops that follow the law in the line of duty. They are the only heroes. The rest should be tried as the criminals that they are. Stop defending them.
I’d have to say it was the assaults, especially the last one on the cop, that were why he was shot.
I know lots of people, including me, who did shrooms, acid, pcp, etc., as teens, and opted not to physically assault people, or do armed home invasions.
Yes, he was a sad case. And I’m not saying it’s great he is dead. But it came down in this case to him or the cop. The cop was totally justified in what he did. And this guy was bad news.
Extremist judges on both sides are a problem. Yes, liberal judges are at times too lenient on violent criminals. And conservative judges are at times way too harsh on minor drug offenders, though many times it is mandatory sentencing that is the problem.
The key is to stop locking up minor and non-violent drug offenders. We have too many of the wrong people in prison, and need more violent people locked up in prison or institutions.
What? I live in NYC and know LOTS of liberal cops.
Yes, this cop was justified, I agree 100%. And there have been several cases that got a lot of press where the cop was 100% justified. But there have also been cases where they were not. A guy was executed in SC last month by a cop who then planted a weapon next to the person he shot.
People need to look at each individual case before taking a side.
