Discussion: Nixon Foundation Hires Hugh Hewitt As Its Next Chief Executive

I don’t know what all that shi…stuff is, but they do have Tom Sawyer’s whitewashing brush.

Before Nixon was lying in state, Keith Hernandez’s book If at First, relates that Richard Nixon took a liking to the early and mid 80’s Mets, and took to coming to their games and being allowed to visit their clubhouse. Since I know you are a Red Sox fan I will not give the particular offending player’s name, but a rather large, portly, Mets left hander of that era, during one of Nixon’s visits, to plagiarize Chaucer, “this Nicholas anon let flee a fart, as great as it had been a thunder clap.”

The first two items are from the infamous, self pitying Checkers speech, as it was called.

There is a famous picture somewhere of Nixon breaking down crying onto Ike’s shoulder when Ike announced he would stick with Nixon as VP in the campaign. But I didn’t do the right Boolean search on Google to immediately yield the picture. Or maybe Hugh Hewitt has already done a catch and kill operation on the rights to the magazine picture.

How utterly appropriate!
